Introducing - Catartsis - Ainsi Vient Le Doute [ SousTraitance ]

Somewhere between memory sediment and subconscious drift, “Les matières errantes” marks the second solo expedition of the Sous Traitance timeline, this time led by Catarsis (aka Mathieu Bonnafous).

This new EP from the Parisian producer gathers four elusive productions, each one forged in a different temporal layer across a period of seven years. Oscillating between states, they reveal a raw urge to blur genre borders, where bass-heavy architectures bend into murky techno spirals, breakbeat fragments dissolve into dubstep low-frequency voids, and drum & bass pulses flirt with collapse. There’s no linear path here, only shifting zones and unstable rhythms, moving like tectonic plates beneath the surface of club logic.

A disjointed archive, a driftwork of forms—"Les matières errantes” doesn’t narrate a story so much as it exposes its own erosion. It’s a confrontation of industrial and natural environments for an unique, organic sound, making Catartsis a key figure in the renewal of the French Techno scene.

Michael "SHMIKESSS" Veltman is a Cape Town–based cinematographer, DJ, live performer, and producer whose sophisticated sound creates immersive narratives. Drawing from themes of collective consciousness, his sound blends dub, melodic, atmospheric, and psychedelic textures with progressive house, minimal, and deep techno.

As co-founder of Tomorrow's Monday Records (@tmrwsmdy), one half of @thelostboysza duo and creative director and curator of @pandorafestival , SHMIKESSS is building a community that bridges Cape Town’s underground with a global network - hosting transformative events and fusing music with cinema, photography, and visual art.

His rapid rise has already seen releases on Berlin’s iconic Katermukke and its sister label MUKKE, alongside South African imprints Back To Funk and Imprint, as well as his own Tomorrow’s Monday. With a growing catalogue of unreleased tracks tested exclusively in his live sets, SHMIKESSS is gearing up for multiple EPs and an album on the horizon.

Known for boundary-pushing performances, SHMIKESSS weaves storytelling, deep emotional resonance, and unconventional methods into his sets - including his innovative use of mushrooms to trigger sound through wired biofeedback frequency.

• DJ and producer for Fictiv Records label, Jugulaire constantly improvises her sets, composing unique soundscapes like one would explore an inner forest: instinctively, without map, guided by the invisible shapes of the living world. For her, music is a visual and tangible art, a raw material she sculpts live, unprepared, as close to the present emotions as possible.

Keen to show that neurodivergence and invisibles handicaps rejected by society shouldn’t be a shame but also seen as a gift to carried and tamed. She turns it into a vital force, a creative engine, what she feels, she transforms it into textures, tensions, vibrations. Her sense of the world is sharp, saturated, full of details others might miss. She plays as she is: with an overflow of intensity, a way of perceiving reality differently, making it audible, visceral, and disorienting.

Raised on dub culture, Jugulaire draws from that heritage the power of collective vibration, and making a lot with a few. She holds onto the importance of the bass that grounds and connects, and the uncompromising freedom of expression. She refuses to conform to musical codes and instead cultivates a singular, non-conformist vision.

Her approach is incantatory, almost ritualistic: she summons organic and insectoid textures, makes telluric basslines vibrate, and unleashes percussive rhythms that both disturb and ground. She navigates between tempos, intensities, and states, blending sharp hits, rhythmic complexities, and mental dives. Without aiming to please but rather to strike the mind, she turns every set into a space of rupture, a liberation from the cliché of perfection. •
