Playing in the infamous Portal in the Lucky Star Zone at Splore gives me the opportunity to play something different and out of the box.  This year due to the theme 'Mother' I felt the urge to play some quirky tribal indie dance and Afro/Tribal Tech under the alias Voodoo Mamma! Such an absolute high and an honor to play this full power Goddess themed set at the peak of the main costume night (1.30-3am Saturday eve) on the Lucky Star stage for Splore Festival 2021!  It's the pinnacle of expression for myself as a DJ when the music I have curated magically aligns with the costumes and energy of a theme!  Splore never fails to blow my mind!!  As well as being an all kiwi lineup this year Splore (Mother) also had 60% female artists! ⚡💗⚡

The gig that seemed like it was not meant to be yet miraculously still happened (despite lockdowns in 2021 and the state of emergency due to major flooding in 2022)! 

Much kudos to Murat for his determination to take on Takaka Hill (he had another gig in AK lined up the following eve) and TwoToTango for his uplifting disco vibes to end the night! Finally, cheers to the small but energetic cabin fevered crowd that literally risked their lives to come out and support (more torrential rain and Birds Hill collapsed late that eve!)

I lost my darling one month ago today on the eve at the end of this Darling themed Splore. He was best friend, my lover, my partner in crime, my adventure buddy, and my number one fan.  
It's still so incredibly hard to believe he is gone.. 
I am so very thankful we got to spend such a beautiful and magical last weekend together doing what we loved with all our Lucky Star friends at Splore.  

This set was inspired by the theme and therefore Simon too.. I haven't played electro swing in years but had included some in this mix as it was the genre we bonded over when we first met in 2012.. This mix has now become more potent than ever.. 

We were both so excited that I got to play before international producer and DJ Franca B2B Madmotormiquel.. I've discovered Franca has very similar taste in music to me so she has become an absolute favorite of mine.  Seeing her and Madmotormiguel play on the Saturday eve was a highlight of the weekend for us both. You can hear Franca mixing into my last track at the end so I kept it on the recording..

A beautiful weekend (with great weather thankfully!) at the stunning all-new bush zone at Boogie Wonderland in the secluded far reaches of Golden Bay.  We were super honored to also have internationals Mojo Filter(UK), Madmotormiquel(GER) and Zebra Centauri(GER) join our Golden Bay and Christchurch based lineup. 

As the lineup ended early on the Friday I decided to crank it up with some Dark Disco vibes for my slot between Mojo Filter and Pino to finish.  Off the back of my love for Indie Dance a set showcasing this darker sub-genre just had to be done.

Might not be everyone's cup of tea but I do so love to branch out and test out new flavors.  Enjoy Xx

The most difficult set I have ever had to perform so I've been reluctant to post..  I lost my no. 1 fan and partner in life and all things music just over 1 month prior to this event. Not having him by my side was insanely hard and unfathomable. It still is. 

There is no way I could have played if it wasn't for my amazing support team of besties smiling at me from the dance floor 💕  Thank Fuck for them!! 🙏 💗

I originally began collecting music for Brazen with the thought of attempting to express femme energy in it's many facets.. and following the shock of loosing Simon I also could not play without truthfully expressing some of the rawness and pain of where I was at.  

But at the end of the day. I guess. That is. Brazen.

Bizarre Bazaar is a stunning little boutique festival organized by a highly creative team just out of Wellington over Labour weekend.  

Though I will always and forever have a gaping hole to fill without my main supporter and adventure buddy by my side, this party was such good vibes and just what I needed following the hardest winter of my life.. I'm honored to have been included on this lineup of such talented artists and performers 🙏    

It was also super special to have my amazing son Luka with me for the weekend who celebrated his 20th Birthday on the Sunday 💗 I graduated from motherhood that day too, thanks to the beautiful and quirky as Shamans Liz and Nicole 🙏💥

I spent the majority of my energy this past summer putting this set together in Simons honor.  It felt like a very important process, however hard. I couldn't let this festival summer go by without celebrating him in some way.. It meant so much to have Luscious and The Lucky Star on board with this 🙏  

This set only begins to scratch the surface of Simon's vast love of music.  It's made up of signature tracks, favorite tracks of the moment, tracks that remind me of him and sentimental tracks from our time together.. There are so many styles and flavors I was unable to fit into the set time frame but it's definitely a luscious, genre bending feast, just as Simon's sets often were.  Hopefully I did him justice.

A massive heart felt thanks to all those friends, old and new, who came and danced to celebrate Simon!  Big love also to those who helped support me in a multitude of ways throughout these two weekends and beyond.  You are all legends and I could not have got through without you 🙏💗 Xx

I struggled a bit putting this set together so was a bit reluctant to share, especially after my mysterious tech drama on the night.. Yet I got some great feedback nevertheless (which is so often the case despite all the trials along the way!) After listening back there are some sections that I actually really love ❤  

Shipwrecked Festival is an incredible multi sensory experience, curated to an extraordinarily high level in all areas.. If you ever get the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it!!  Thanks again Lucky Star for including me on your lineup, it is always an honor ✨🙏💕

I made a big effort to curate a set that was suitably twisted for my 9.30pm main stage slot on the 2nd of January New Years 2020-21 Twisted Frequency Festival.  I had very little time to get organized but it turned out to be personally one of my best sets yet! 😊 It was a real honor to follow NZ legend Barton Strom from Out of Sorts (originally Antix).  

This set was very much a cathartic process of reflection on the crazy covid times and it was an amazing experience to play it to such an epic crowd on such a big rig ❤
