The first submission in this series dedicated to the greatest jazz guitarist in history was "OGD" (organ, guitar, drums?) originally performed with B3 titan James Oscar Smith.  The iconic Montgomery tune here, "Four on Six" (four fingers on six strings?), is based on the changes to "Summertime."  Wes may be gone, but he left many disciples.

As soon as we heard Drake had sampled Kala & Crazy Cousins on his 'One Dance' record, we knew we had to flip it back into a house record for our sets. We went on youtube to make sure no one had done it yet and that's when we came across Gayatri's cover of the track. She killed it (at only 14 years old btw) and we immediately changed gears and wanted to create a new version of the song from scratch based on her take. A couple emails and a few days of work later and here's what came out.

Emma-Jean Thackray is an award-winning London based jazz trumpeter, flugel player and producer. She has recently received the Emerging Excellence award from Help Musicians.

She brings fresh ideas to the music by fusing experimental beats and deep brass grooves of her Walrus EP, one of Bandcamp’s top jazz releases of 2016. We invited her down to audiophile venue Brilliant Corners at the end of last summer to show us some of her favourite records.

The rising mega talent, multi-instrumentalist, striking bandleader and *actually* ambidextrous musician and producer returns to deliver Ley Lines – a true showcase of her talents.
