Melbourne based artist Dashiell debuts on Felt Sense Records with five hazy cuts, including a remix from Salt Mines co-founder Rudolf C. Dashiell is a Melbourne born and raised DJ & Producer and a member of production group Menage alongside Sam Brickel, who released a track on Kia's Animalia imprint back in June 2020. Dashiell is a devotee to glitch & minimal musical styles, which shine through in his 'Going Nowhere Fast' EP on Melbourne label Felt Sense Records. The EP features a collection of tracks recorded over several years in some of Dash's ever-evolving bootleg studio setups like laundry spaces, and leaky tin sheds. The EP opener 'Aspect' sees Dashiell invite Steeplejack artist Sam Brickell to feature. The track offers fluttering grooves, hypnotic pads and spacey, humming low frequencies before 'Going Nowhere Fast' lays down breaky rhythms, tripped-out fx and twinkling synths underneath. Up next, 'Oxy' takes things into minimal territories as the shimmering bassline fuse delicately with moody textures and dubbed-out vibrations whilst 'Scratching The Surface' features ambient atmospheres, breezy soundscapes and glistening melodies. To finish, Berlin-based Australian producer and Co-Founder of the Salt Mines label rolls out a loopy remix of 'Going Nowhere Fast' as he blends trippy electronics and murky tonality.

For Sameheads, Andrea & Alexander release their first material together, acting as a kind of trailer to an upcoming album released later this year on R-I-O. The track “Olias” finally gets its press after once being performed live at the fabled Sameheads festival “City of a Thousand Suns”… those were the days eh…..

On the Mutant Radio side, fresh talent TINA delivers her debut release, and for that matter, the first ever track Mutant have put onto a piece of vinyl….. The track “Vacation” is the squelchy black sheep counter balance to the silky synth vibe of the other side. Just how they like it.

The release will be up for pre-order from next week, and the digital stuff too…. Just the 300 copies available…… So,,, fix up look sharp……

We've been honored to welcome Sordid Sound System's own Stuart Evans to rework 'No Loss'. Stellar producer with releases on labels such as Optimo Music, Hoga Nord, Invisible Inc or Playground Records, he infused his trademark sound collisions of motorik dub and psychedelic dungeon disco.

Rising star Remotif returns to Especial with a full complement of his “trance fusion”, a modern-day ethnicity of breakbeat techno dance music. With releases on Coymix, and Space Lab, as well as soon appearing on the cult label Avidya, plus a burgeoning DJ career from Fabric to Berlin’s seminal Warning parties, his time and space is now.

A standout inclusion on the last Especial sampler “Comunion Especial” (EES040) was a prescient to a pure natural ability to create hypnotic grooves. Part of the burgeoning Bristol scene Joe “Remotif” Reddick has steadily built a series of releases and admirers, a psychedelic swirl of bouncing beats, oscillating rhythms and trippy vox that capture a moment of merging zeitgeist.

Starting with U 15, this is prime time, jacking Remotif, where melody, samples, and beats angelate, stretch and absorb, almost devotional, but always engaging the feet and mind, a blissful science, daring shanti awakenings.

Deep and dripping, the organic ooze of Glint's Pursuit follows. Tribal percussion, shimmery timbres, siren vocals, the sharpness created by slowing the bpms giving oxygen to our experience. Rising, rising.

The Elevated Place sums much of Remotif’s music. His personal highs (and lows) encompassed via sound design. Acidic, nocturnal, skywards, the unquantifiable stream of emotion is in there, a very genuine capturing of a personal journey wrought from machines, translating into a musical form. The lost chord, the funk electric. Whichever, the drop ethereal, the breaks supertight, the hope unrelenting. An apt EP title.

The end (for now) an inverse to Joe’s universe. The space between, the afters, the dub, the mantra, nodding to Bristol’s music history, The Sunken Place is a groove-led, break-neck, trip-not, head-swinging, deftly-made electronic micro-symphony. From the 90s to the 20’s, San Francisco to Stroom, Remotif rides the signal.

Written and produced by Alex Silvi (Alien Signal) throughout the years of 1993-1994. ‘North Polar Stars’, ‘Brilliant Evening Planets’ and ‘Violent Volcanoes of Io’ originally released on album ‘Celestial Sights of the Future’ from Upland Recordings in 1993. ‘Quantum Limit’ was originally released on album ‘The Search Begins’ also on Upland Recordings in 1993, whereas ‘Atomic (Esoteric Mix)’ was a self-release from 1994.
These tracks are responsible for a huge impression on Dream Software and the sound of the label, so it is with great honour we reissue these tracks and release them back into the outersphere. The soundtrack to a retrofuturist world gleaming with optimism. A world where humanity, technology and nature exist in a peaceful symbiosis. A real utopia. We thank you Alex for your inspirational music.

a2. Alien Signal - Brilliant Evening Planets (DSOFT004)

[Emotional] Especial returns to the music of Peter Reilly aka Persian, with a second EP
diving into his extensive catalogue to celebrate this cult artist and evaluate his recent decision to retire from music production.

For over 20 years Reilly has been an exemplary electronic producer, a producer’s producer, a DJs producer, releasing over 50 EPs that crossed genres, from Breaks to Digidub, Electro to Garage, House to Jungle and on and on.

If this release is to act as an epitaph, then its exploration of Reilly’s wonderful programming, sampling and understanding of emotions is laid bare. Spread across a series of self-released edits hidden within limited run EPs, Questions appeared as something akin to beats interludes, across numerous releases over the last 10 years.

Bringing the best versions together on one EP, Questions 1, 2, 5, 3 and 7 have been re-edited, extended and sequenced into a continuous mix especially for this finale. Starting with the ambient breaks of Questions 1, this is a Balearic beginning where bubbling acid meets haunting refrain, before segueing effortlessly in to the sunrise breaks of Questions 2. A nod to Carl Craig’s classic Incognito remix, the solo keys add a touch of jazz to a glide by shooting melody.

Side 2 rises. Question 5 heralds a half stepper Dub bassline riding the Amen breaks, the now familiar Brando sample, a wormhole in your brain that ties the EP together, joining the dots as strings float skywards, allowing Questions 3 break it all back down. Herbie Handcock inspired Funk Boogie beat, shouts out to his own Existence To Resistance label, leads to the pure ambient closing of Questions 7. A showcase again of Persian’s multi-genre dexterity and maybe, just maybe brings an influential music chapter to a close.
