Microcosmos Records presents Berezhno by Dara.

Dara is a project created by Gregory Berlov (Russia), also known as an organizer of several music festivals in the art camp Meduza on the Black Sea coast.

The music of Berezhno is an excellent blend of Slavic melodies and electronic rhythms of groovy drum-n-bass, lively trip-hop, and enchanting ambient soundscapes. In his music, Gregory experiments a lot in mixing genres and in sound design production. He also created a recording studio called Hitin in which Gregory records guest vocals and ethnic music artists.

The tracks of Berezhno are made based on improvised live music sessions recorded in Bali (Indonesia) and in Meduza art camp (Abrau Peninsula, Russia), and therefore the tracks sound as if performed live. Gregory says that the album is a call to stay true to one’s roots. The music of Berezhno invites listeners to immerse into the culture of their ancestors, listen to ancient whispers, gain the wisdom of all people and tribes unity.

Recorded live at the Sweet's Ballroom in Oakland, California. Home of one of the first Ecstatic Dance communities, on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

This day was an incredible experience. Though it was only 1 of the 17 dances I played in under 25 days along my West Coast ecstatic dance tour, this one was special. Oakland and Sweet's Ballroom is home to one of the first Ecstatic Dances ever. It was here, inspired by what was originally created at Kalani on the Big Island of Hawaii, that a large enough community was slowly built in the Bay Area of California to inspire others and help spread Ecstatic Dance around the world.

Over the last few years, I have had the privilege to DJ at around 80 Ecstatic Dance communities around the world, and see this widespread ecstatic vibe spread far and wide.

This is why this mix is dedicated to the Oakland community of Ecstatic Dancers. Each part of this set includes themes of Sweet, Oakland, and California. With rap artists such as Too Short, Digable Planets, and Childish Gambino, to wise greats such as Bob Marley, Tems, and Tupac. This set is both high energy and deep and bassy. With lots of lyrics and effects. 

I owe a lot of gratitude to the Oakland dance scene and this was an attempt to give the dancers a great vibe to go wild to. It was a vibe! The day was a big energy and the dancers met with high regard. It was an honor. Thanks to all who were there that day to be a part of the experience and thanks to all the dancers that show up throughout the years from day one until now. You have my heart.

The rāga saga is a series I have started to act as a cultural collectiva of my favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "color the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this journey (raga) comes from St. Petersburg by the deeply talented @electromantra

"At the end of the work on every mix, I constantly felt that it was weaker than the previous one. Letting go of these thoughts starts after a wave of reviews. Later, I keep listening to the work I have done and I'm going to sleep with it. After a while I already like everything, and even technical stamps I perceive with condescension. Taking a mix as it is, as if i made it someone else.

The mixes I made from the material of the sets that played before the poetic evenings. Poets and people who perceive poetry are often impressed and have good thinking. I created a special atmosphere with my own nets. Here you should clarify what, but I can't describe it. I just bet the tracks I liked and it gave the right effect."

In April 2019 IN SPIRIT – A holistic music production retreat was facilitated in the jungle of Bali close to Ubud. The idea behind it was to combine the technical side of music production with the practical side of channelling divine inspiration trough meditation, qi gong, breath work and voice embodiment with the goal to create music that is a unique soul expression, inspiring and healing and has the power to uplift the frequency of the planet. The result of this magical co-creative experience can be heard on this compilation. Most of the participants have had little or no music prodcution experience at all before but thanks to a very efficient schedule and passionate teachers they each ended up with a fully finished unique track.

Music is my passion. Constantly in search of beauty, I marvel at the sheer size of this sea full of emotions, the ever-growing variety of styles and flavours. It’s such a blessing how good music can touch the heart and rise consciousness. My deepest gratitude goes to all the producing artists who share the divine spark!

Go to "Playlists" to find my sets sorted by genres. At the moment, my favorite style is ethno influenced psychedelic house 80 to 125 bpm, with occasional excursions into pure ambient for special events. 
Each set comes with a track list, although I don't usually play tracks unaltered just as they are. Instead, I love creating musical collages: mashing up well selected elements of two or more single tracks carefully into a duet, combining their essence and most brilliant moments into new beauty. This creative process is complex, however, it puts me in flow state and pure joy. It's my 2nd biggest addiction, only topped by my 1st: Going out, performing live, seeing the faces of dancers in bliss, feeling that we are truly all ONE.
