This month’s WAX PLAY features a 3hr mix from Encaustic co-founder Tabula Recta. Their selections build in tempo and intensity as the set progresses, paralleling the increase in stress, anxiety, and unrest we’ve experienced throughout the course of the pandemic. Here’s their message to you:

I want to use this space to highlight that black & queer artists are not only the pioneers of electronic music expression, but essential to the vitality of arts / culture across all domains. To recognize this, I ask that you donate to the Black Trans Femmes in the Arts Collective. 

The BTFA Collective aims to create an empowering community among Black trans and non-binary femmes and to address the systemic barriers that support their erasure. Founded in 2019 by Jordyn Jay, BTFA has created an uplifting, joyous space for Black trans women and non-binary femme artists to showcase their talent, advance their artistic careers, and explore the possibilities of their own creativity.
