Alchemy for Cells & Other Beasts charts a course into magical waters, anchoring itself in the frightening politicization of a woman’s body. The chemistry of this conversation between Spokane Poet, Maya Jewell Zeller, and Seattle artist, Carrie DeBacker, includes pomegranates for human heads, bones that can walk, and a ship sprung from a person’s back, “floating farther from shore.” The speaker in these incantations, behind these urgent watercolors, muses on the philosophies of geologic time, climate change, human genomes, and existential destruction. This book sets out to discover meaning in this terrible, beautiful time  —  and suggests wonder is where we’ll find it: “the diagnosis is strong / for the wild & wind mills.”

La Libellule, poème clef dans l’œuvre d’Amelia Rosselli, daté de 1958, marque le départ d’une nouvelle poétique : l’autrice compose son « délirant flux de pensée occidental » en une métrique inédite, tissée de citations empruntées aux poètes qui l’ont formée et dont elle se dégage autant qu’elle leur rend hommage. Le poème avance en un mouvement rotatoire semblable à celui des ailes de la libellule et ce mouvement même est celui d’une libération clairement indiquée par le sous-titre « Panégyrique de la liberté ». La comédienne Anne Alvaro s’approprie et sait rendre dans sa mise en voix cette Liberté qui s’exerce et se partage ainsi au fil des mots.

La lecture par Anne Alvaro de La Libellule d’Amelia Rosselli — traduction de Marie Fabre —  a été enregistré à La Muse en Circuit — Centre National de Création Musicale le 26 avril 2021 à Alfortville — à l’initiative d’Ypsilon Éditeur. Elle est présentée pour la première fois à la Galerie de l’UQAM, en collaboration avec Ypsilon Éditeur et l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura de Montréal (section culturelle du Consulat général d’Italie à Montréal) à l’occasion de l'exposition « Zerynthia. Metamorphosis », une fascinante exposition centrée sur l’écoute, la poésie et les mondes en mutation — fruit de la complicité entre la Galerie de l’UQAM, l’Association pour l’art contemporain Zerynthia, RAM radioartemobile et l’Académie des beaux-arts de Rome.
