Synthese 02 (Radio Version)

This is the recording of the extended opening set I played at Watershed (a storied Portland warehouse venue that has been the setting for many underground events) for the inaugural Thread The Needle party. I played for three hours warming up the space for our out of town headliner, the magnificent Andrey Pushkarev from Portugal. 

Since I had to start from nothing and set the stage for our guest I dig deep into my collection of groovy dub techno records and also a lot of a certain kind of tech-house sound that I was really into in the early 2000s, plus of course some proper minimal. I really liked how this turned out and hope you enjoy it.

Watershed Opening Set for Thread the Needle

Recorded live somewhere in the southern Oregon wilderness, sunrise on Sunday October 1st 2023. I had the privilege of performing the closing set at the inaugural Osmosis In The Trees festival, a three stage affair spanning three days featuring an incredible lineup of artists from all over the Pacific Northwest.

Osmosis In The Trees Closing Set

Seoul-based Hogun presents us with an enticing recording this week, with a diverse, wide-range of sounds. Hogun is an experienced DJ and event organizer, and during the year of 2022 found the club Atdge in the buzzing Seoul neighbourhood of Itaewon. Also, he curates the podcast series renowned Underground Electronic Music Tread. He seamlessly melts existence, fiction, and fantasy on the dance floor, playing a role in guiding the audience to mechanical and explosive pleasure. All his sets are vinyl-only, and his skills can adapt to various settings. So please be sure to ready your mind for some energetic delight.

Andrew Boie has been DJing for twenty years. He started in Kansas City, founding kansascitytechno.com before relocating to Portland. He currently runs the Faceless event series, whose guests have included BMG, Jane Fitz, Mike Dehnert (with SubSensory), and, later this month, Daniel Bell (with Spend the Night). Andrew brings deep knowledge, a refined palate, and advanced command of the turntables. He is, simply, one of the finest talents in the city of Portland. This improv set was recorded in July during peak summer weather -- now it serves as a little slice of warmth to carry us through this Fall and Winter. Enjoy.

Was born in August, 14, 1986, in a strange town named Ulyanovsk. From the verychildhood his parents have been helping him to develop his creative personality.
Eric's first serious musical discovery takes place at the age of 7, and that is 'Enigma'.
"For quite a while, I was absolutely keen on their music, and didn't imagine a day without listening to it. That was a kind of miracle for a little boy, a portal into another world which is filled with expressionism".
Then, a year later Eric decides to get himself copies of the records and make some changes with it: by cutting the tapes into small fragments, re-arranging and making it together again, he gets unimaginable results.
"With such experiments, I collected the pieces of tapes and that made a sort of sample library, I used the 'samples' to build surrealistic compositions and then distributed the copies among my friends and relatives".
