A dreamsong for our baby. Heard while asleep, on 21 November, 1986. Recorded at 3:30 am.

Background:

I was sleeping next to my 8 months pregnant wife, and not unusually, dreaming music, hearing and playing piano and guitar in ways different than when awake. A calm piano phrase was heard, and suddenly I woke up, anxious to record what I heard.

Putting headphones on, so as not to awaken Lynny, a stereo recorder was turned on, and the phrase heard in the dream was recorded from a 1985 Korg DW-6000 keyboard, using a tone I had set up days before. There are no overdubs or corrections (you will hear this someway into the phrase). The tempo was very slow and rubato. It's possible I was still half asleep while playing.

I'm not a piano player (only two years in grades one and two). When finished, I turned off the recorder, and went back into a deep sleep.

The song was dedicated to my soon to be born child, Heather.

Later versions do not have the dreamy sound of this one-off.

Side A of Wiley Audio Sound Productions demo recording 9, Side "A", by "The Blokes", fronted by Richard McIntyre, of Gig Harbor. He gave me this, and another undocumented 45 when I was 8 years old in 1966. It was kind of cool having a real rock'n'roll star living next door. He had a vehicular accident and passed away some time after this recording.  I broadcast this on my private AM radio station from 1966 - 1969. Buck Owens & Loretta Lynn also recorded here around this time. I was just running wild in there - played with billiard balls in the reverb chamber, which was an old coal bunker! This was directly across from the old Roto Rooter building on North 46th in Tacoma. Richard McIntyre was the son of Ruthie, sister of Ruceil Graves.
