Good job in working up an octopus song. Sung with great gusto and a neat sing-a-long la de da section that will go down very well in the folk club (with swaying beer glasses).

Excellent sea-shanty, Erin! Very catchy, sing-along- chorus.

You can do both deep/thoughtful and silly so well!  I hope at your next gig you only talk in the character of the octopus' voice for the whole gig! :) this is really cool, agree with other comments on the fun, irish pub type of feel. Sláinte! RIP GUS!

Week 28 Prompt: Biggest Octopus Ever

Note about the song: "Gus's Tale" was written as a bit of nonsense about the biggest octopus ever visiting a variety of various "Bay" locations in Canada. As it so happens, the largest, longest-living octopus species is the Northern giant Pacific octopus, which is native to the Western Canadian coastal waters. And while I'd like to claim I was clever enough to have known that ahead of time, I learned that factoid AFTER writing the song. Enjoy!

I decided to try something a little ravey today. I bounced a chord to audio so I could pitch it up and down in the way folk did 'back in the day' and fiddled around with some sub bass and time-stretched vocal samples. I then chopped up a little amen break which, surprisingly I don't think I'd done before. I even chucked in a little attempt at creating a spinback by adding a delay to the beat and then rapidly changing the delay time.

Dream Chaser (Jamuary Day 22)

This will be the first release from a forthcoming album. It's partly about the current political climate we live in but also delves a little bit into my time at school. I tried to create a character that is dissolution with his social predicament that ends up succubming to right wing propaganda. It's not as bleak as it sounds! 
The chorus focuses on an imagined political figure that uses propaganda to change the minds of millions within the U.K. It takes part around 2016. I wonder who I might be singing about? You can't break the heart of the nation essentially means you can fool some of the people most of the time but not ALL the people ALL of the time. I have used the question in the last phrase of the song; can ya? Because lets face it they did. The right sort of broke the heart of the nation but the nation hasn't realised it yet!
