In The Heat Of The Battle

" Kaipuu Ullavalle" kappale perustuu vanhaan irlantilaiseen Carrickfergus lauluun, joka on peräisin 1800-luvulta. Alkuperäinen tarina kertoo laulajan kaipuusta kotimaahan ja kotikonnuille. Hän muistelee siinä nuoruuttaan ja rakkaimpiaan, jotka jäivät kotimaahan.  Esa Blomberg on tuottanut taustan ja soittaa siinä kitaraa ja mandoliinia. Laulan kappaleen omilla sanoilla, jotka omistan kotipitäjälleni Ullavalle Keski-Pohjanmaalla. Ullavasta on lähtenyt paljon siirtolaisia Amerikkaan ja  Ruotsiin. Olin itsekin Ruotsissa lyhyen ajan siirtolaisena, mutta moni jäi sinne pysyvästi. Olen nyt mukana projektissa, jossa keräämme tarinoita Ullavan Ruotsiin muuttajista ja toivon että tämä laulamani laulu innostaa ihmisiä muistelemaan omaan tarinaansa ja toimittamaan sen vaikka minulle.

Laulun on luonut Ray Stanley 1956. Sitä esitti ensin Jack Lewis Zippy Simms'in orkesterin kanssa. Ensilevytyksen teki Perry Como 8.5.1956. Suomessa sen ovat levyttäneet Olavi Virta ("Glendora"), Brita Koivunen ("Ikkunaprinssi"), Rauli Badding Somerjoki ("Ikkunaprinsessa") ja Ville Valo & Agents ("Ikkunaprinsessa, 2019").
Versiossamme, jonka suomenkielinen sanoitus on Saukin, toimin itse laulusolistina. Esa Blomberg  soittaa plectrum banjoa sekä on tuottanut tämän swing-version Band in a Boxin ja Reaperin avulla kotistudiossaan.

This Is What You Are (Mario Biondi cover)

I read that one can build a song with just two chords. I had to try. 
I first recorded and published this in 2017.  I made today 20th April 2024 a remix.
I sing and play the 12 stringed guitar and plectrum banjo. I produced this with Band in a Box and Reaper at my home in Helsinki, Finland.
My picture is taken in 1981, when I was working in the MS-Audiotron. I needed a photo for a visa to Tallinn, Estonia, where I visited with late grand old man Matti Sarapaltio the then new concert venue Linnahall, which MS had equipped with sound and lighting systems.
