The surprising sound of Electric Lady, one of the track of Esinam’s first EP, set for 2018.
The track made in collaboration with the producer from Senegal IBAAKU, Electric Lady, a single drenched in afro-futurist colours, was composed for the dance floor.
Sonic samples and collages freely mix with electric and raw sounds, supporting the energetic playing of the flute. The structure of the song remains true to Esinam’s signature sounds: surprising ruptures, poetic atmospheres and constant affirmation of groove.

Ce morceau élaboré en collaboration avec le producteur Sénégalais, IBAAKU, Electric Lady, single aux couleurs « afro-futuristes », a été composé pour le dance floor . Des samples et collages volontiers hétérogènes, des sons électriques ou bruts, soutiennent le jeu énergique de la flûte. La structure du morceau est fidèle à la signature d’Esinam: ruptures surprenantes, atmosphères poétiques, affirmation du groove...

IBAAKU - Kuti's Break

At an early age Esinam Dogbatse became fascinated by percussion instruments such as the ‘tama’. Piano was her first ‘true’ instrument, but for obvious practical reasons when travelling, she soon opted for the flute.

Her compositions carry traces from different worlds, geographically, culturally and musically. In her live performances, she wants to preserve as much freedom as possible. By defining as little as possible in advance, she’s left with enough room for improvisation.

As a flutist, she plays and played with bands the likes of Marock’in Brass, Kel Assouf, Témé Tan and Sysmo. Baloji invited her to guest on his latest record and Melanie De Biasio booked her as a support act for her sold-out shows at Ancienne Belgique in December 2017. In April 2018, she performed the opening act on the large stage at Botanique (Orangerie) during Les Nuits for Nakhane and Témé Tan. Both Alsarah & The Nubatunes and Selah Sue are also impressed with her unique musical universe and invited her to star as their support act for their sold-out concerts.
