One of Norway’s most renowned musical exports, Prins Thomas has fashioned a fresh direction for dance music. As with his peers Todd Terje, Hans-Peter Lindstrom, and some of the city’s legendary characters like the mysterious DJ Strangefruit, he has the very laid-back nature of his Oslo residence to thank for encouraging his path, one that has created a global ongoing fascination with retro futurism and cosmic oddities.

Prins Thomas’ relationship with the esteemed Eskimo label from Belgium began with the "L&PT" album together with Lindstrom ten years ago, followed by the mix-cd ‘Cosmo Galactic Prism’ eight years ago. This project brings him full circle back to the imprint. His unending eclecticism is indulged in heavily in ‘Paradise Goulash’, each disc a gentle wander within the musical mind of ‘the Prins’, enlisting the help of some superior production talents from the notorious Robert Hood, Actress, Marcellus Pittman, Young Marco, I:Cube and Hieroglyphic Being, as well as wholly obscure material unlikely to have been heard before. 

“The music contained within is a willfully diverse collection of music that I hope you'll find pleasing to your ears. Much like a bowl of goulash, not all the ingredients might be to your liking. It is undeniably more rustic roadside tavern than refined dining but I hope you already trust me behind the pots and pans. I have been spoilt for choice by the many fine ingredients available to me and have become somewhat blinded in compiling the final tracklist. However, the end result has now been tested on my nearest and dearest to approval. I present to you, my own special “Paradise Goulash”

Akase is the new collaborative project from Harry Agius (aka producer Midland) and songwriter/vocalist Robbie Redway. After meeting at Leeds University, the pair have been busy working together behind the scenes, building a selection of sublime tracks to present to the world that exist in the innovative cracks between musical boundaries. Influenced as much by Leeds sound-system and Dub culture as Depeche Mode or the wide electronic soundscapes of Jon Hopkins, Akase's latest single, Murmur, plays with ideas akin to both ‘Violator’-era Depeche Mode with a palette that nods to Midland's recent Aus Music releases. 1115 are an experimental kraut-rave-IDM duo consisting of grey and fehler kuti.
The two met in Munich in 2015 and started jamming in fehler's kitchen in the Westermühlstra.e. Grey operates a virtual 808 drum machine, bass and organ synthesizer, while fehler kuti uses, loops and modulates his voice. Their performances are rythm heavy hypnotic jam sessions that range from noise soundscapes to techno like club raves. Imagine Dieter Moebius and The Residents attending a Hauka Cult ritual or Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Spaceman 3 jamming on a cruise ship down the river Ganges.
The title of their debut record The Drowned World is a reference to J.G. Ballard's novel of the same name. The author depicts a surreal future in which the borders of the subconscious and the material world collapse and the pounding of jungle drums drives men and women into isolation:
A psychedelic dreamland.
To Ballard the most menacing future scenario resembled the absence of crisis, which he encountered in a suburb of Düsseldorf, a place where freedom could only be found in the field of
psychopathology.
1115 are currently recording an album produced by Cico Beck and Markus Acher set for release in
2017.

Thank you for purchasing this grand finale of my recent "Paradise Goulash" mix cd. The tracks on this 2 X 12" received some special individual treatment which I hope you'll enjoy listening to or playing in your local disco as much as I did making the. Box Saga has been a firm favourite of mine for a good 20 years already and although it's baggy pants and loose groove is exactly why I love it so much I thought it would be fun to do a slightly different take on it. 

Ü is a recent fave of mine but as the record is super long and has a very DJ-unfriendly ambient intro, I gave it a couple of chops and hope you're brave enough to bring it to the dancefloor where it belongs. The tracks by Joachim Holm & Alejandro Mosso, Actress, Hieroglyphic Being and Blacknecks are all quite sparse to begin with and with the approval of all involved you can now smile or cringe at these "Versions" where I "join the band" on some of my recent favourite records. Thanks to the artists and labels involved for letting me use their music.”

Christmas is the time of the year where everybody steps back a little bit, thinks about what’s important in life and gives away some nice gifts for the people who are important for him or her.

Fresh from the release of Phillips, his debut solo album for Running Back, Lauer, one half of Arto Mwambe, releases the Macsat Ring Down 12” for Beats In Space Records. 

Like the satellite that it cites, Lauer’s “Macsat Ring Down” follows an elliptic pattern fit for infinite play on any space floor. On “Mascat”, analog space junk flies in and out of an orbital framework built upon nearly nine minutes of bubbling bass and peripheral percussion. Space boogie at its finest. 

An anti-gravity exercise in repetition, Lee Douglas remixes "Macsat" for the flipside. Reaching a zen state through mantra-like looping that would make Steve Reich proud, Douglas reworks Lauer’s sounds from a delicate and pensive place to a muscular and propulsive groove. Most if not all of the synthesized glitter from the original is eventually forgone in favor of blasted percussion and an unrelenting bassline. 

The digital bonus remix by The Backwoods - aka DJ Kent, one half of Tokyo’s Force of Nature - floats “Macsat” back to earth. The soulful piano that backbones the track conjures sunrises off the shores of Orion and a galactic hangover from all the space juicin’. The Backwoods brings some brawn to the original arrangement and allows alien interception by way of a mangled but melodic celestial sound choir. 

Each 12" from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. BIS004 12" features artwork by Kensei Yabuno, whose mutant life form illustrations lurk in corners all over the design universe. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 25th, 2012 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 2nd, 2012 from the drab internet universe.
