This Soft Machine (aka Tim Sullivan) returns to Eskimo Recordings with a highly charged slice of psychedelictinged modern disco, with remixes from Japanese artist https://soundcloud.com/chida73 and USA born https://soundcloud.com/avalonemerson. Created entirely by Tim and his band using analogue equipment, ‘It’s Operational’ follows on from last year’s double sided release ‘On & On / This Place Was Meant For Me.’

An irresistible fusion of disco, house and and chiming nu Balearic pop ’It’s Operational ’ is sure to place http://soundcloud.com/thissoftmachine firmly back within the contemporary dance music scene, with music that “consists solely of sounds recorded by human hands”. His previous release on Eskimo was met with high acclaim, with the accompanying video premiering on FACT magazine and the past year saw him supporting Carl Craig, DARKSIDE, Tim Sweeney, Flight Facilities and Chris Liebing on stage.

Tim met CHIDA after moving to Tokyo in 2009, describing the Japanese pioneer as “a guy with a huge smile and a great music knowledge to match”. He speeds things up with his cut, delivering an impressive, theatrical remix. CHIDA has been repping the Tokyo underground music scene for over twenty years and is founder of the much hyped label Ene.

Creating a darker and unyielding remix, Avalon Emerson was recently described as one of the “new leading ladies in underground dance ”. Avalon originally fed her appetite to DJ in the San Francisco party scene. Now  based in Berlin she has played alongside Erol Alkan and Fort Romeau.

We remember the day our manager came into our studio aka drew's living room apartment to show us this new band he was going to sign to Disruptor Records. The first record he played us was this tune Overload and we were hooked! We had never heard of them before but we proceeded to listen to 10 more songs of theirs and we were blown away. Their sound was so refreshing from the instruments to their vocals. There was a summertime quality to all their music that couldn't be denied. Flash forward a couple months and we had the chance to meet them in LA. We proceeded to do what any dudes meeting for the first time would do, we through a mansion party at a buddies got totally blackout and missed the call time for what was our Let You Go music video. Flash even more forward and Overload is taking over top40 and they are about to drop their next single Dreams! The boys were cool enough to let us take a shot a remixing overload and putting our touch on it. The song itself is already just so amazing and vibey... its like drinking coconut water on a beach while getting a foot rub and someone somewhere else transferring large sums of money into your bank acct. SO we figured why change that and just change the foot rub to a back massage and money to a kiss from a chick you really are into but didn't know she was also into you.... So without further adieu... our remix of Overload!

I'm Lost

Sara Dziri is one of the artists defining Brussels’ electronic underground scene. Hybridity and melancholy are central themes in her music, complex house and techno imbued with the overtones of her Belgian-Tunisian background. She has played at Boiler Room, Institut du Monde Arabe, Nuits Sonores/European Lab, Amsterdam Dance Event and more. Sara has a residency at Kiosk Radio and promotes the feminist queer underground party ‘Not Your Techno’ and ‘Souk Sessions’, a night dedicated to arab techno.

Her first EP for Lurid Music opens with the title track, “Vague Realities”, a sluggish techno beast featuring what could be described as Tunisian brass on acid. Japan’s underground hero Chida is called in for remix duties and delivers with abundance, producing a head-swaying Moroder-esque noir anthem.

The other side features “Oasis”, a 109-bpm psychotropic desert chugger with Northern African percussion, gated Arab melodies and sinister basslines. England’s dark force Man Power steps in to speed things up and deliver an entrancing throwback to outdoor raves of old, building upon repetitive loops, ever- evolving jangling keys and shiny synth stabs.
