Experimental electronic sound and performance artist Aja Ireland presents her new album ‘Cryptid’ via Infinite Machine due out on January 31st. After the release of her ’Slug’ LP on Opal Tapes in 2021, Aja returns with a new release marking a first exploration into lyrical expression in years, diving into her personal journey through rejection, recovery and resilience, while drawing influences from Ice Spice, SOPHIE and Arca.

The album emerged from a deeply subconscious place and merges themes of personal survival and futuristic storytelling, drawing from experimental electronic, trap, and rap influences. It’s a sonic exploration of the ways we reclaim power, with tracks that also touch on themes of bodily autonomy, empowerment, and community. The album is an emotional and sonic rebellion against a system that often dismisses artists with unconventional sounds. 

With elements of empowering women and people in the queer community, experimental electronica, and AI-driven aesthetics, the record became a way for Aja in claiming back power—channeling rejection into innovation rather than defeat. By blending experimental sounds with deeply human themes, Aja aims to build a narrative that speaks not only to her own journey but also to the wider struggle for visibility and self-expression. This powerful project includes driving club tracks that offer both release and celebration, designed to bring people together on the dance floor.
