Four electrifying edits from London & Paris based @mytronofofo on the unstoppable Razor N Tape. ‘Beach Buggy’ goes full throttle from the get go with a conga fuelled, disco jam before the clock strikes twelve and ‘Midnight Drive’ offers up a low slung, late-night boogie cruise.

Here is ‘Vortex’....so when Michael Mayer listened to the demo, he tripped and banged his head on a cupboard. When he woke up he said...

“There's something about Rex The Dog that keeps my mind wandering back to the times when it all began for me. It was the early 80s, when young Michael first got exposed to the magic world of dance music. As much as these early sonic impressions (Stock, Aitken & Waterman, Italo Disco, Trevor Horn etc) still resonate in both Rex The Dog's and my current musical output, there's another aspect to those early days that sometimes tends to be forgotten.

Do you remember the first time you saw coloured lights blinking, a blasting smoke machine and lasers cutting through the room? I was so fascinated by that first experience that I started spending all my spare time and pocket money on music and lights. My first self-made piece of disco equipment was a shoe box containing three speakers (ripped from old TVs and radios) and three LEDs that actually flashed to the beat of the sound. An achievement that made me proud as hell. Looking at Rex The Dog's self- made modular gear always opens a vortex of childhood memories.

When the world slipped into madness last month, the ESP Institute put most releases on the back-burner to await brighter days, but then we thought again; why not approach these odd circumstances the way we do most realities, positively and head-on? We’re committed to a community that builds new worlds — this is fundamental to our creative and spiritual relationship with Osaka-born, cosmos-straggling artist, Ground — and while temporarily we can’t physically congregate to uplift each other, its our responsibility as an institution to maintain a platform for prolific creative pioneers, our cherished cartographers of cognitive escape. 'Wakusei' is wonderfully confusing and disorienting music, a follow-up EP to 2018’s critically acclaimed album 'Sunizm', not created specifically for life under lockdown, but nonetheless aptly suited to help release angst, guide meditation, and assist in making this moment in history more interesting if not transcendental. Whereas 'Sunizm' relied on field recordings gathered from rainforests, percussions learned from imaginary ancient civilizations, and the somehow organic freneticism of a mission control meltdown, the aesthetic of 'Wakusei' reduces this abstract instrumentation one step further to a more base-level array of gurgling synth scraps, accelerating engine friction and static-bound phonetic mistakes, all scrubbed into dust by a Brillo pad of white noise. The cliché of “great art is born out of hard times” is not lost upon us — of course the world will look back to this turmoil and its residual contributions to culture — but we see today's art as an immediate coping mechanism, and artists like Ground helping to unlock and navigate internal utopias. We’re already indoors, let’s delve inside.

“Who is the Enemy?” is the first release by Italian DJ/Producer Ant aka A-Tweed based in Rome. A conceptual body of work using afro-electronics fused with Celtic cultures, the 3 tracks dedicated to Scotland, Bretagne and Galicia respectively. The EP was symbolically recorded in Palermo, Sicily as a trait d’union with the Mediterranean and Africa. Sampling and processing bagpipes from Scottish, Breton and Galician traditional music was definitely the most delicate part of the whole work, trying to respect the sound and make it minimal and club oriented. The first track “Drumnadrochit Afro Airlines” was written after a roadtrip along the Scottish Highlands, and samples some beautiful percussive tunes from Tanzania Soundsystem (released by the Scottish label &quot;Highlife&quot;). “Brezhoneg Souq” is a tribute to the city of Rennes in Bretagne, symbolising a walk in an imaginary Breton/Souq market at closing time. The eponymous track “From Accra to Vigo (Who is the Enemy?)” is dedicated to Ghana’s first PM and revolutionary, Kwame Nkrumah.
