Genius of Time - Tight Genes

Plaisir de France is well known for his remixes and collaborations with the best of the new French pop scene. He has worked with everyone from Regina Demina and Bertrand Belin to Arnold Turboust and his debut album from 2021 featured 27 collaborations that explored everything from club sounds to introspective home listening, dark grooves to happy house. Now the pleasure of the album is extended with 17 remixes, four of which are teased here.

First up is dark disco mainstay Damon Jee with a pure dance floor hit that is explosive and mechanical. His take on 'Serpent' is the sound of an infernal machine that goes into overdrive as it powers on in a rugged but compelling fashion.

Legendary innovator Tim Paris then steps up with his signature and singular electro-rock sound on his version of 'Cogne Mon Coeur.' It has a melancholic mood and bittersweet sense of nostalgia that slowly lifts you up as the power of the heady guitar chords and plaintive keys make their mark.

The brilliant Badknife remixes 'Sur La Piste' and brings a 2 am atmosphere where black leather, distorted drums and 80s sounds make for a menacing and uncompromising groove. It is an infernal sound that leads to both physical and mental abandon.

Finally, Polocorp is one half of Polo and Pan and he remixes 'Dans Toutes les Chansons d'Amour' with the club mind in. He layers in deep, hypnotic bass to make for an energetic cut that is ready to attack both body and mind.

This is a vibrant collection of characterful club sounds. The Tim Paris remix will be available 23rd September, the Polocorp remix on 7th October and the remaining two remixes from Badknife and Damon Jee will be released with the album on 21st October.

Set to release this October 13th via La Belle Records. Azaria & Andrea Lacoste join forces for "Hexagrama". This collaboration see's one of the most intriguing producers from the low BPM electronic scene (who we previously welcomed a year ago for our VA "One Night Stands 3") work alongside one of the most eclectic singer / producers around.

Azaria & Andrea Lacoste continue on a journey of musical experimentation. The sound of this new record might surprise fans who are familiar with Azarias earlier release "Bugs". This collaboration with the Venezuelan multi-instrumentalist artist exemplifies the organic synergy both artists display.

The EP delves into the ritualistic elements found in African and Oriental sonorities, as well as music with psychedelic influences. It features a blend of Latin beats, Amazonian rhythms, drums, and other ethnic resonances, all of which create a tribal and immersive atmosphere that invites the listener into their world. Layered over these percussions are melodious tunes, ethereal voices, and continuous chants that augment the hypnotic musical backdrops, reminiscent of mantras. The result is a sound framework that ebbs and flows with dreamy, serene, and experimental touch. It's a fusion of the electronic and the organic, distinguished by a unique touch that sets it apart in an era flooded with music.

This record's aim of folk-ancestral revival is consistently evident. The EP opens with "Soleil," characterized by its laid-back rhythm and sensuous vocal work. Followed by "Jayeechi Wayúu," which combines a straightforward House beat with intricate percussion and layered influences. "A New Jam" immerses us further, with melodic drum work, with spoken word serving as a counterpoint to the bustling rhythm in the background. "Bright Mood" propels us deeper into the tribal concepts whilst the title track "Hexagrama" pulls you in with its darker layers over a 4-to-the-floor beat.

What attracts us to Chilean-born artist Ricardo Tobar is the notion of intersection, and although fusion is nothing new, as a concept it will always pull our heartstrings. Applying influence is amateur, we see this over and over again as we endure trend-driven appropriation of cultures the world over, but the epiphany when an artist finds true synergy between heritage and influence is a pivotal moment that the inspired will seek, even though it may take the length of one’s career to behold. As pretentious as that may sound, it is precisely the hybrid born from that place of intersection that excites us at the ESP Institute, the “A plus B that equals 3”. We hear this in Ricardo’s music — the Latin American instinct in his drums and percussion, sometimes tightly aligned with body movements and other times hauntingly mis-aligned and chaotic, intersects with his rock influence of ethereal (micro) melodies that slowly layer and layer until we’re climbing a glorious (macro) wall of sound — but most importantly we hear where these different parts of his life come together to further create one unique voice. On both sides of his ESP Institute debut 'Liturgia', Tobar couples one pulsing dance-driven track with another atmospheric and immersive track, requiring we educate ourselves in the polarity of this language he’s building, one that will expand to tell a broader story later this year with his debut album. We welcome Ricardo Tobar, another forward-thinking artist, to the ESP Institute, and are proud to support any direction his compass points from here, as we believe he’ll never follow but will always lead

After playing in the city many times and hosted a legendary party at Opium Club, the relationship between Calypso and Vilnius became a quite strong.
This is why eclectic mexican imprint invited Lithianian capital's local talent Plot Pilot to share a release with label boss Thomass Jackson for the next Correcciones chapter. 
The A side is Jackson's time to deliver his two edits. First one is a bongo driven, afro robotic vocals, breakish trance extravaganza. While the second one goes straight for the chin with it's vocals who comand you to work work work! 
The lithuanian boys deliver a cosmic track full of psychedelic guitars and bleepy noises on their first one and for the second one, and the one we are premiering here, they pay tribute to the lithuanian seaside where every summer the famous Ant Bangos festival takes place.
