The Kech is a musician, DJ and producer based in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. He has been creating and playing music for more than 15 years. The first parties at which he performed he was only 16 years old. During his sets, the seasoned but still young artist likes to explore many a genre, such as Electronica, Techno, Disco and House. For his debut on the acclaimed French label ESTHÉTIQUE, "Shout EP", he brought his dark side to light delivering three outstanding originals and received two mighty remixes by Connor and Daniel Monaco (SXDNS137/FREEDL006).

The 120-BPM original title track had its energy and vibration slowed down - but not diminished - by Mr. Monaco, one of the most requested collaborators of the new Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene. His 104-BPM remix succeeded in keeping the intensity of the original, even with such a downtempo interpretation. The menacing guitar riffs and the sharp acid layers are still there, enhanced, we dare to say, by the unhurried pace the prolific Italian producer applied in his version. The beautiful synth pads and the ethereal vocals added by Daniel brought even more melody to The Kech's solid work.

Hot on the heels of their proud new charity project and first ever compilation ‘Freeride Millenium presents Queer Base’, this agenda setting label returns with an evocative new EP from Brazilian artist @Rotciv, also appearing on vinyl in collaboration with Pauls Musique.

DJing since 1996 and Berlin based since 2010, Rotciv has been playing places like the acclaimed Panorama Bar, Frankfurt’s legendary Robert Johnson club and the Cocktail D’Amore parties for many years. He runs Mister Mistery, a label focused on house music, while also releasing himself on Luv Shack, Unterton (Ostgut Ton) Skylax and many more. All this comes alongside his The Rimshooters project with Massimiliano Pagliara.

He kicks off this fresh EP with 'Number of Names', a rugged roller on the border between house and techno with a phased bassline and rolling chords that get you in a meditative state. The more upbeat 'Glutamate Transmission' gets you shifting shapes with its daubs of acid, crisp percussive flashes and busy bassline, then 'True Colour' has an old school Chicago feel with its chatty claps and acid lines. The moods continue to evolve with style on 'Bubbles The Chimp', a tense cut of broken techno, futuristic machine sounds and lively synths.

Beautiful ambient closer 'Soundwaves' is a lush comedown amongst the stars.
This is a fully formed and journeying EP of fantastic underground sounds with artwork by Daniel Rajcsanyi.

Rotciv - Soundwaves [Freeride Millenium]

Sticking with the Italian theme we have going on this week our next guest is DJ/producer Vicky Montefusco. Heavily influenced by the sounds of the 1980's, Vicky started mixing records in the late 90's at private parties before moving on to more established club nights and beginning to make a name for himself. It was around this time Vicky crafted his sound around techno/indie dance but with the addition of synth leads played on classic synthesisers such as the Moog. 

This sound really shines through in all of his productions and mixes to this day and has led to worldwide recognition, with the likes of Maceo Plex, Curses and Ivan Smagghe regularly playing his records in their sets. It's clear that Vicky has a real ear for quality music and we can't wait to share this mix with you. What better a way to forget the stresses of a busy week?
