Scottish producer 'Bageera' expertly pilots Espai Music's journey into 2014 with 'Life Without Shapes'. Having made waves in the scene and garnered support from the likes of Carl Cox, Bageera's star has been steadily rising ever since his debut EP on the label back in 2011.
A genre-spanning back catalogue from the artist is bolstered further with the Original Mix, a slab of beautiful, melodic house music with one eye firmly on the dancefloor. A funky guitar lick flitters over a bedrock of solid bass pulses and tough percussive elements, while vocal excerpts, strings and piano riffs add emotion and depth to a solid foundation.
Canada's Luke Fair, who himself has released original work for Espai in 2013, dons his remix hat here. The outcome is trademark stuff - solid, deep and groovy house music, showered with melody and emotion. Utilising some of the funk-infused ideas of the original and the prominent piano hook, the mix takes on a life of it's own with a beautiful woodwind sequence and an uplifting bassline.
Rennie Foster vs Rhythm Droid complete the package with an utterly fresh direction. Detroit-infused techy, acid vibes build relentlessly to create a savage re-think of Bageera's brainchild. The breakdown offers brief respite with a burst of melody, juxtaposing what has come before. Rest assured, though, the dancefloor's breather is short as the mix re-engages to a driving conclusion.

Released on 27th April, ‘Vermillion’ lands with an inter-stellar remix package. French techno connoisseur Agoria leads us on a minimal, spaced out trip through shining synths and swift vocal echoes. Acclaimed house maverick and Hot Creations head honcho Jamie Jones has been closing his DJ sets for the last few weeks with his own remix.  Its bouncing, old school house tip bounding beneath bright gospel turns of phrase, approaching near classic status with arms aloft receptions on the dancefloor.  And finally Berlin’s Deniz Kurtel, who pulls her penchant for polyrhythmic percussion to the fore, casting sweet tribal grooves across an original surely destined to become a dancefloor anthem this summer.

“There is nothing that compares to DJing under the stars,” Lazarus explains. “In the night air or being responsible for soundtracking the rising of the sun and I wanted to create an album that reflects these beautiful moments.”

A career spent DJing across the globe was the catalyst for Lazarus’s latest project – Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons.  Co-produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, the new album brings together an assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world, all taking inspiration from his Lazpod series, Get Lost events and Day Zero festival in Mexico.

We Draw A - Reflect (Viadrina remix)

Long time resident artist Noraj Cue returns on Manual Music with his long awaited 'Drowning' single, a song that has been buzzing around the Dutch techno scene for quite some time now but never got an official release.. until now! Next to the highly hypnotic original we're happy to welcome living legend Dimitri (aka Dimitri From Amsterdam) on board for remix duties. The original of 'Drowning' has been a sure thing in his sets in the past 1+ year so when we asked him if he was up for remixing it it didn't took long for him to be on board with the plan. He keeps the dark dramatic feel of the original but adds a proper dose of melodies. To end things in style 'Manic Depression' is another dark, deep mesmerizing piece of techno music.

Noraj Cue really shows his darker (techno) side here, a side he showed us before when he released on our Stolen Moments label. Two proper bombs by this Dutch production wizard topped of by a big remix by the infamous Dimitri. What more can you ask for?

Save the date. ItaloJohnson are dropping 'ITJ09' on March 31. 

Their last three-track 12" arrived in April last year, giving us a proper tasty treat of jackin' house jams. And that's we dig the Berlin-based trio so much. Whether it's through their own releases or superb selection on deck, they always guarantee maximum funky action.
