Reflect is excited to announce Black Velveteen as our the newest member of our crew!

Before she became Black Velveteen,
Chris Offutt was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. Her parents introduced her to a wide range of music; Motown to Mozart and everything in between. Some frequently featured artists in young Chris’s house were Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor.  Current influences include Chris Fortier, Amonita, Wilma, Nora En Pure, Tayllor, Wilson Kentura, and Matt Sawyer to name a few.

From a very young age she dreamed of hosting her own radio show. In 2011 that dream became  when she had her own show “ Progressions in House” on FNOOB based out of London. 
Chris enjoyed DJing around the San Francisco Bay Area from 2012-2019  . In 2012 she became the resident DJ and musical director at Aloft Hotel SFO. In 2013 Djing in the Pride Parade on the W Hotel float. In 2015 she was asked to perform on the Tantra Stage for Pride in San Francisco.  She was in rotation at The End Up and did guest spots and Monarch, The Great Northern and Wish. In 2016 Chris was asked to join AirPusher Collective.  She has also done guest  mixes for FriskyRadio, ProtonRadio and Elastic Beatz, Innerflight, Space Medicine and more.  Black Velveteen's style and sound is indescribable as she reaches for sounds and music that turn her listeners on to a new experience.

At long last we release the final set of 2019's legendary Tropical Oasis Retreat Maui by legendary DJ and producer Jimpster of Freerange Records, London.

Tropical fell in with Jimpster after his 6 hour set at Tropical Hearts Spring Festival in collaboration with a very young Desert Hearts back in 2013, which created some of our most memorable dance floor moments  (You can find that set deep in our Soundcloud track history in 2 parts).

Jimpster aka Jamie Odell was back to headline Tropical Oasis Retreat in California in 2015, and finally for our best production ever, Tropical Oasis Retreat Maui in March 2019.

Fortunately Tropical took 2020 off from producing events following NYE in Los Angeles, and we all know what came in March.  

Here's to hope for 2021!

Introducing ETHNO, the latest in sonic explorations from drummer/producer Jeffrey James Franca.  Heavily influenced by his love for global rhythm, ETHNO embodies the spirit and soul of Jeffrey's musical diversity. Widely known as the drummer for electronic music pioneers Thievery Corporation, Jeff brings new life and a modern sound to the timeless experience of terrestrial vibration. You will find a vast array of influence from Africa, Asia, Caribbean and South America in the rhythms and melodies, along with lush textures and thumping bass to massage all of your chakras, head to toe. Focusing on the sacred tempo of 150 bpm, you can feel the high energy of double time grooves intertwined with the rhythm, often times falling back in to a vast open space of a half time drop keeping the listener and dance floor energized and excited. This music is a reflection of Jeffrey's philosophy on life and music as a whole.  We are all connected, rhythmically, sonically and spiritually.  Life is fun, music is fun and we can connect people and cultures through our most joyous contribution, music. One Love.
