I started playing violin at age ten and kept it up until 18, taking private lessons and playing classical music. In high school, I was in the school orchestra, receiving high marks in city solo and group competitions. I was also in the  All-City Orchestra, where we had many performances and were even on television once. 

Singing has always been fun; I would listen to the radio in the '70s for hours and learn all of the popular songs, as well as Mozart arias and Handel's Messiah. (If I didn't know what they were singing, I would still go "la-la-la". This helped train my ear to be on key. I've never had any singing lessons really.

In 2010, I took up the guitar and play simple chords, and last year, I began writing songs. I enjoy singing and playing in groups as well as alone. Good for the soul.

"Sister Speak is the recording alias for Canadian Alt/Folk artist Sherri Anne Nyberg, with roots from Victoria BC, Canada to Sweden. With the release of her Coming Home EP, Sherri Anne is currently exploring a deeper connection to her homeland and ancestral roots. Sister Speak weaves together influences from many genres. 

Sister Speak has a dedicated fanbase and has gained popularity through her stage presence, authenticity, songwriting and recordings. Sister Speak has performed at many iconic venues and shared the stage with music legends of various genres including The Doobie Brothers, Air Supply and Don Carlos. Her music has been featured on CBC, BBC, CFNR, NPR, and various radio stations around the world. The song "Will it Ever" is featured in the recent John Travolta/Kristin Davis movie Cash Out.
