This song is actually more of a poem. But I only realized that when I tried to set the text to music after I had written it. 
"I count on you" is a song written as a heartfelt thank-you to the quiet companions in our lives — those who stand by us when times get tough. 
Sometimes, these are the people who understand us without needing many words. Sometimes, they are the loyal, four-legged friends who remain by our side through the years. And sometimes, it’s a spiritual presence that carries us through our darkest moments.

This song is about that steady, silent presence — the comforting feeling of not being alone. It reminds us how much strength can be found simply in being there for one another. Some call it friendship, others call it love — some believe it is God. Ultimately, it’s about connection, trust, and the quiet certainty: I can count on you.

A heartfelt thank-you to Andreas and Colter, who deeply inspired me in the creation of this song.

It would mean a lot to me if this song finds a place in your heart and uplifts you when you listen.

I Count On You

“I read that “Teenage Dirtbag” was recorded in a house basement. I was inspired. This song is a reflection of the excitement I got back in the day as a new young musician in a band where you had no budget, loaded in to a run down studio, pressed record and left the session hours later with a raw final mix on CD. It was amazing. I wanted to get back to that in sound and spirit and to capture it I used my fantastic rusty stringed, completely tuned by ear £65 Stratocaster copy with little post production editing or mixing. When tracking I had early Foo Fighters and “Clarity/Static Prevails” era Jimmy Eat World in mind. Like those early days this was written/recorded/mixed in a few hours. “college rock.” centres around a person finding solace in music and guitar and considers the decline of guitar in mainstream music today, is nostalgic about the impact of guitar bands and USA radio college Rock music in the 1990’s and simply gets back to that optimism of JUST ROCKING OUT.”

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Evandro B. Lira, also known as “Vintage Mutation”, has been a musical explorer since he was nine years old, when he started his first music studies.
In 1990, he became a trombone player, participating in “jam session” meetings and joining with some gospels orchestras. In 1996 he began his studies in synthesizer keyboards, suffering the influence of the electric guitar since 1998, when he started composing his first songs.
Active researcher on the relationship between music and mysticism, revives his experiences since 2016, expanding his sounds from synthesizers and guitars, in order to rescue all the classic and “vintage” atmosphere, for consequent transmutation into contemporary tendencies.
