A couple of days into 2023 and I’m back with more Funkier Radio sounds for your ears! Just because I can, I start the tempo quick on this one before dropping things down to a more comfortable pace. There’s the usual mix of new and old, with a couple of brand new bits from me - one edit and one remix… both of which I’m pretty pleased with. 
For hour 2 I welcome the very talented Lev for a guest mix. Lev caught my ear recently with a fantastic guest mix for my good friend Nathan Simpson’s DayDream Disco, and I was thrilled when she agreed to do a mix for my show. She didn’t disappoint as this mix is brilliant, starting off with lots of lovely boogie sounds and moving into some sublime lesser known disco, exactly the sort of high quality stuff that I love. Her tune selection and mixing style is impeccable - huge thanks to Lev for a stunning mix!

Funkier Radio Episode 98 - Lev Guest Mix

As featured on the House Nation radio show, Housebound Radio, Even Funkier Radio show, the Disco Waltons show, Feel Good Friday on NDC Radio and Diamond Radio.

Hailing from Aberdeen but now living in Edinburgh, Ewan's love of music started from an early age when he started to listen to soul, funk and disco.  In 1993, Ewan started listening to Pete Tong's Essential Selection and Essential Mix shows and his love of house music started.

A pair of belt drive turntables and basic mixer were purchased shortly afterwards and Ewan started DJing at house parties and birthday parties while at University.  The belt drives were upgraded to 1210s which he still owns and Ewan continued to play at local parties, gigs and events. 

30 years on Ewan still likes to collect a broad range of disco and soulful house-music although the tempo has moderated over the years.  He makes regular recordings to share with like-minded music fans and has featured on the Even Funkier radio show, the Disco Waltons show on NDC Radio and Diamond Radio. He references Graeme Park (fellow Aberdeen fan), MAW, Dave Lee, Norman Jay, Dimitri from Paris and Frankie Knuckles as major influencers .

Wilson Frisk hails from Bradford, Yorkshire in the north of England. Like many other Dj's Wilson started his musical journey collecting music as a young teenager doing compilations for his friends. In 1994 Wilson started a music fanzine called 'Jackyard Backoff' with his late friend Chris Stephenson which covered the music scene in the north of England. Around 1995 Wilson became involved with a very successful club night called 'Spice' which was his first stint at Dj'ing playing Broken Beat, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and jazz......Wilson has now firmly established himself in the House/Disco scene holding down residencies in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield and been involved with infamous club nights such as Back2Funky, Uno House, Our House, Afro Coalition, Way2Funky, Wallop, GYGO and The House Of Phunk. Currently Wilson is one of the Boombox  Stereo residents who play at the mighty BeatHearder Festival and part of the 4Playdjs Collective who play at the Solfest Festival in Cumbria. London-based DJ, producer and radio host Even Funkier weaves together Disco, Funk, House, Soul, Boogie, Jazz, Hip Hop and Global delights to create something fresh, irresistibly funky and downright groovy. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As a DJ he’s taken his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets to locations including Glastonbury, ADE and Westival, playing parties for Midnight Riot, Good Custard, Project Bango, Pineapple Police Horse and DiscNoTheque. And as a producer he’s released on over 20 labels labels including Tropical Disco, Hot Digits, Mango Sounds, The Disco Express, Midnight Riot and TheBasement Discos.

Jay-Kay has been a music addict and vinyl collector from her early teens. Mentored by her husband @dj-bk-du ,she got into DJing in 2022 with great success and plenty of SoundCloud klicks on her mixes. Jasmin aka Jay-Kay is also a member of the Disco Waltons family. Her musical style is diversified, ranging from disco to house to balearic and back again.
Together with her hubby, she broadcasts the 2-hour "Couple Show" on NDC Radio every 2nd Saturday.
She is also the founder of the party event "Women for Women" and supports her husband BK at his "Sunset Disco" events.
