Funkier Session #015 - DJ Filaipe

London-based DJ and producer Pete Ellison has been spinning music for 25 years and has a passion for funk and disco, blending sounds of the 70s with house beats, vocal samples and chunky basslines.

He broadcasts a weekly show on NDC Radio called the "Feel Good Friday Show", with a special guest each week from the Nu-Disco world. The show won the award of "Best Radio Show" at the OGV Music Awards in 2022. 

He's had releases on Super Spicy Records, Spincat Music, Discoholics Anonymous, Mango Sounds, Discography Lessons, Spa In Disco, Duchesse and Hot Digits. Two of his tracks have hit the Number 1 spot on Juno Download.  

He runs a London DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties. He has played at dozens of London clubs,  and has played at Wilderness, Secret Garden Party, boat parties, woodland raves, Ibiza pool parties and even the dungeon of a French chateau. Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 12-hour set.

Pete is also part of The Disco Waltons, a group of International DJs and Disco Lovers who came together during lockdown through their love of music. They host a Sunday night show on NDC Radio, playing on rotation with special guests

As well as Funk, Soul and Disco, he plays Melodic Techno, House and Progressive House

After finding the rave scene in 1990, Lee bought his first set of decks a year or two later. Initially influenced by the music in the North West and clubs like Legends (Warrington), The Quad, Cream, The Hacienda he started his music collection and would play at parties, the odd bar gig and create mixtapes for friends.

Fast forward to the turn of the decade (and century!), now living in London, Lee was part of an underground party collective called Most Excellent, putting on parties at various South London venues such as Brockwell Park Lido and The Telegraph (Brixton), playing classic, funky and soulful house music playing alongside a few notable guests like Trevor Fung and Stuart Patterson. 

After a break of about 10 years to get married and start a family, he started listening to the likes of Fingerman, LNTG, The Reflex and was hooked on the underground edits and disco scene. The decks were dusted off and he started to buy music again…

Lee is now proud to be part of the #DiscoWaltons family, a DJ, Producer and music fan collective who frequent the chatrooms of some of the best music shows and livestreams available to humankind!

Wilson Frisk hails from Bradford, Yorkshire in the north of England. Like many other Dj's Wilson started his musical journey collecting music as a young teenager doing compilations for his friends. In 1994 Wilson started a music fanzine called 'Jackyard Backoff' with his late friend Chris Stephenson which covered the music scene in the north of England. Around 1995 Wilson became involved with a very successful club night called 'Spice' which was his first stint at Dj'ing playing Broken Beat, Acid Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul and jazz......Wilson has now firmly established himself in the House/Disco scene holding down residencies in Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield and been involved with infamous club nights such as Back2Funky, Uno House, Our House, Afro Coalition, Way2Funky, Wallop, GYGO and The House Of Phunk. Currently Wilson is one of the Boombox  Stereo residents who play at the mighty BeatHearder Festival and part of the 4Playdjs Collective who play at the Solfest Festival in Cumbria. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As a DJ he’s taken his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets to locations including Glastonbury, ADE and Westival, playing parties for Midnight Riot, Good Custard, Project Bango, Pineapple Police Horse and DiscNoTheque.
