Afterhour Sounds steht seit Anbeginn ganz im Zeichen der Liebe für die elektronische Musik und das gemeinschaftliche Miteinander. Deshalb haben wir (Martin, Uwe und Arkadiusz) uns anlässlich der bevorstehenden 100.Podcast-Jubiläumsausgabe am letzten Wochenende in eine wunderschöne Berghütte zurückgezogen, welche uns fernab jeglicher Zivilisation als Inspirationsquelle für dieses besondere Jubiläum diente.
 
Normalerweise  wenn drei unterschiedliche Menschen aufeinandertreffen und etwas zusammen bewegen müssen, in diesem Fall einen besonderen Podcast aufzunehmen, kommt es eigentlich immer zu Spannungen, Machtspielchen, Reibungen und auch zu Streitereien. Komischerweise war und ist das bei uns Drei nicht der Fall. Woran es wohl liegt, kann man nur erahnen, doch es bleibt uns verborgen. Was wir aber wissen und fühlen ist klar: Die Liebe zur Musik und das bewusste, positive  Denken von uns Drei, kann Freundschaften aufbauen. Gestern, heute und Morgen.

Wir drei sind unglaublich stolz auf unser ‚eigenwilliges Projekt‘ und natürlich auf Eure fortwährende Unterstützung, ohne die Wir absolut nichts wären. Danke vielmals dafür. Natürlich möchten wir weiter wachsen.  Deshalb haben wir uns schon Einiges für das kommende Jahr überlegt, was so manchen von Euch komplett überraschen wird. Wir freuen uns wirklich sehr mit Euch diesen Weg gehen zu können…

Unsere 100. Ausgabe ist ein Set, welches vom Herzen kommt. Vielleicht nicht perfekt, aber zu hundert Prozent ehrlich. Eben genau so, wie wir uns eine typische Afterhour vorstellen würden.  
Das Set ist daher auch fast auf 3 Stunden angewachsen. Ob Ihr es uns glaubt oder nicht, aber wir haben tatsächlich versucht uns kurz zu fassen. Wenn man ehrlich ist, muss man sich aber eingestehen, dass es auch nicht anders zu erwarten war, wenn man drei ausgehungerte Musiknarren, wie wir es eben sind,  auf einen Podcast los lässt. Dafür haben wir einen teils gefühlvollen, dramatischen. energetischen, geheimnisvollen, manchmal auch verrückten aber durchgängig hypnotischen Podcast aufgenommen, der uns selber mega mäßig Freude bereitet hat. Und das nicht nur beim Aufnehmen, sondern auch beim Nachhören im Himmelbett.

Aber was Reden wir da. Hört doch einfach selber rein.

Habt viel Spaß mit der Aufnahme und beim Abtauchen in eine andere Welt.

Arkadiusz Dmytrow aka ‘Arkadiusz’, now resides in Mexico. His DJ career began 2010 in Frankfurt am Main where he frequented the famous former Vinylshop Pro Vinyl and legendary electronica institution Robert Johnson in Offenbach am Main. Both had in retrospect the most influence in his decision to start mixing and for sure in his style of music.

From the beginning Arkadiusz has been more focused on deep hypnotic and experimental electronic music with a touch of melancholy, quoting as influence the likes of Lawrence and Nathan Fake.

This episode is yet another outstanding episode that speaks eloquently to this sound and his masterful selection skills, featuring a range of tracks from both less-known artists as well as those tried and tested.

Unsere Nummer 109 kommt diese Woche von einem ganz besonderen und eigenwilligen Künstler, der mit seinen vielzähligen Produktionen und Sets fortwährend für die ganz besonderen Momente im Leben sorgt. Dabei geht es ihm nicht nur um sich selbst...

Die Rede ist von Ronny, der für die meisten unter dem Namen 'Das Kraftfuttermischwerk' bekannt sein dürfte. 
Auf seinem gleichnamigen und weltweit bekannten Blog sorgen seine täglichen, teils skurillen Posts aus den weiten tiefen des Internets fortwährend für Lachmomente, Faszination und Entrüstung. Als Robin Hood des Internets fördert er aber auch unbekanntere Künstler. Am bekanntesten ist sein jährlicher „Kraftfuttermischwerk Adventskalender“ [https://soundcloud.com/der-das-kfmw-ak], in dem sich verschiedene Künstler verewigen dürfen.

'Das Kraftfuttermischwerk' ist aber vielmehr als nur ein reiner Blog. Als Künstler veröffentlicht er auf seiner Plattform nämlich seit 2004 unterschiedliche Produktionen, Mixe und Live-Sets. Bekannt dürfte vor allem seine Mix-Serie „Tief“ sein, die sich vornehmlich dem Ambient und Dub widmet.
Mit elektronischer Musik beschäftigt sich Ronny sogar schon seit den 90er Jahren. Einer Zeit in der viele von uns noch selber noch ein Kind waren. Damals ließ er sich von Steve Masons und Allen Alliens Radiosendungen auf KISS.FM und DT64 inspirieren. 
Im Jahre 1995 kaufte sich Ronny erstmals einen ATARI ST und andere verstaubte Geräte, mit denen er vor allem Kraftwerk-Samples mit Radioaufnahmen vermischte und neu arrangierte. Mit der 808 und 303 wurden zudem viele Beatloops kreiert, die in vielen Produktionen auftauchen. 
Seit 1999 ist er zudem als DJ und Live-Künstler unterwegs. Stilistisch orientiert er sich natürlich an den langsamen und entspannten Klängen, hat aber auch Techno, House und Psy-Trance in seinem Repertoire Unter anderem bespielte er das Fusion-Festival, den Tresor in Berlin und viele weitere Clubs und Open-Air Veranstaltungen.

Seine Hingabe zum 'Entspannten' ist tatsächlich in jedem seiner sehr abwechslungsreichen Sets zu hören. 
Dazu bringt er in jedes seiner Sets eine ganz spezielle ,individuelle, musikalische Note ein, dass sich vor allem mit dem Gefühl der Anspannung und Entspannung erklären lässt. Und ganz egal ob wahrnehmbar melodisch, 'toxisch' verträumt, kindlich spielerisch oder extatisch treibend, stets bietet er dem Zuhörer auch Raum das Unbewusste zu erkunden: Gedanken zu vereinen, Gefühle zu reinigen oder einfach nur den Geist und den Körper baumeln zu lassen. 
Ganz egal was du auch vorhast. Eine Reise die sich immer wieder lohnt!

Umso mehr freut es uns, dass wir Ronny für unsere Reihe gewinnen konnten. Dass er sich wieder einmal mit seinem ganz ausgefallenen Sonntags-After-Set  übertroffen hat, versteht sich fast schon von selbst. Wir sind einfach nur stolz auf diesen  knapp eineinhalbstündigen Leckerbissen. Macht euch auf etwas „Großes“ bereit!

It's been nearly 5 years [july 2013] since my friend  https://soundcloud.com/arkadiusz-dmytrow recorded one of the very first mixes for the Seaside Trip: https://soundcloud.com/rolandsons-seasidetrip/seasidetrip-09-by-arkadiusz . in the meantime, a lot has changed and a lot of water has flown down the rivers into the oceans. we never lost each other and whenever we had contact we talked about (our) life(s) and of course about music - what music can do, how we experience the music and how we spread it as DJs - wonderful and philosophical conversations. sometimes we sat around a campfire, once we drove back from a festival or it was just behind the DJ desk but everytime we spend wonderful hours together. so during our talks and over the time I came up with the idea that it would be nice if some of my friends will create an recording again. I talked with a few of them and now, what shall I tell you? they all like the idea and are IN - I am so pleased about it! We continue our monthly mix series "Movements," bringing you mixes from DJs and producers we admire. Volume XIV brought to you by Spessart based ARKADIUSZ (@arkadiusz-dmytrow). A pivotal player in the Berlin based Afterhour Sounds outfit and Karlsruhe’s Kollektiv Liebe, ARKADIUSZ has developed a name for himself in delivering pitched down, slowmotion house and disco.  Often hovering around the 100 BPM mark, his sets hit the pocket when garnering a lethargy akin to an ice age mammal lumbering across the tundra.  The outcome is rhythmic bliss, with once rigid house and techno being belted out with a near hip hop demeanor all while being masked in a moody, trippy veneer true to the electronic space. The style ARKADIUSZ has cultivated in his sets has led him to Uckeralm, Oerwell and Keep Yourself Festival year after year, along with spots at Chac Mool, Mexico, the revered Brüxsel Jardin, and Neuköln’s beloved Klunkerkranich.

Movements Vol. XIV: Arkadiusz

Witchtape #29 | ‘El bosque oscuro’ by Arkadiusz

That day the little witch walked through the forest for her daily inspection round. She felt intensely happy when she saw all these species of plants and animals thriving and blending into a unique ecosystem – something which was far from being the case on the day she arrived in the forest as a child, now 10 years ago. Yet there was one part of the woods which wasn’t doing well. It was also the only section of the forest where there were traces of past human activity : concrete bunkers, trenches and craters. A peaceful being like a witch couldn’t understand what had happened, but surely some fierce fighting must have taken place there. While nature was gradually reclaiming this area and the bunkers became overgrown with moss, recovery was slow and the witch sensed the presence of some dark energy. There were still no flowers or bird’s nests or rabbit holes in that particular area. She was especially worried about the little oak tree which she planted a few months earlier in the middle of this dark section. This little tree is full of potential as it is destined to live for 1000 years and over time become one of the mother trees of the forest ecosystem, yet at that moment it was still small and fragile. But that day her attention was caught by some unusual activity around the little tree. It turned out to be a group of badgers who were digging frenetically several burrows in the ground. This filled the young witch with joy, as these were the very first badgers she ever saw in her forest. And she had heard a lot about their reputation : badgers are very peaceful when left alone, but they’ll defend themselves ferociously when they’re under threat. Even wolves avoid trouble with badgers.
The witch cautiously approached one of the badgers and greeted him politely. The animal immediately blew his whistle and within seconds all badgers converged in front of the witch, 11 in total. They seemed to know that there was a witch protecting this forest and they were very friendly towards her. The badgers explained that they wanted to settle in this forest and the witch showed her gratitude towards these ebullient animals. They even allowed her to play and cuddle with them. After a while she asked what they were digging and the leader of the badgers replied that they were constructing a sett. The witch had never heard of this word, and the animal explained that this is an elaborate system of burrows and tunnels and they are planning to use it for the next few decades. The little witch noticed that the burrows formed a near-perfect circle around the little tree and she made clear to the badgers that this tiny oak tree is destined to become a very important mother tree. When she pointed towards the tiny tree, the 11 badgers looked synchronously at it, and then synchronously back at the witch and the determined look on their faces made it clear that nothing or nobody would ever be allowed to harm that little tree. And the witch knew they would defend it with a ferocity which only badgers can harness.
And from that day onwards, the witch would come and visit the badgers every day as they continued expanding their sprawling underground complex, while the little oak tree grew everyday a little bigger in the safest place of the forest, right in the middle of the sett…

AS & Friends presents ‚Hüttenzauber [slow]‘ Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 154

Inmitten der Natur, umgeben von unzähligen Bäumen, endlosen Feldern und jeder Menge Ruhe trafen sich fünf Musikbegeisterte zu einem musikalischen und besinnlichen Austausch der besonderen Art. Die Rede ist von Patrick, Fabian, Andreas, Uwe und Arkadiusz. Jeder für sich ein begeisterter Musikliebhaber mit dem Hang zum Besonderen. Ganz im Sinne der Musik und der Freundschaft setzten sich die Fünf das anspruchsvolle Ziel zwei Podcasts zu gestalten. Ganz im Sinne des Hüttenzaubers aus dem Jahre 2016 wurde fortan Tag und Nacht an dem Vorhaben mit ganz viel Liebe und Leidenschaft gewerkelt. Hin und wieder natürlich auch diskutiert, probiert, gelacht und geweint. Es war nicht immer einfach, doch zu jederzeit harmonisch. Und das Ergebnis kann sich unserer Meinung nach her absolut hören lassen. Aber entscheidet selber.

Wir wünschen euch ein frohes Weihnachtsfest und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr.

Only a few days ago  I had the honour of playing on the Rainbow Serpent Market Stage.... the best best sound system in the world and the best dance floor on earth. 

To say this was a beautiful experience is an understatement, Ive created so many memories on that dance floor and to be the pilot behind the controls for that moment in time is something ill remember for the rest of my life. 

A massive thank you goes to the people who make Rainbow Serpent possible, you have changed the lives on many and have created a space where people can truly be themselves. I am forever grateful
