Two of the most forward-thinking names in electronic music and key figures in the Evolution Chamber camp, Joe Ford and Task Horizon unite for a project that feels as ambitious as it is personal. ‘In Orbit’ — a four-part collaboration rooted in a chance conversation and fuelled by a mutual drive to explore new musical territory — invites listeners into a world of precision-engineered sound design, cinematic storytelling, and creative freedom.

The series begins with “Where Is The Moon?”, a track that sets the conceptual and emotional tone for what’s to follow. Featuring an exceptional vocal performance from The Velvet Effect, this first chapter is anything but typical. Opening with a bed of atmospheric textures, the track establishes a mood that feels expansive yet intimate — before The Velvet Effect’s vocals gradually emerge, adding depth and narrative weight that elevates the entire composition.

As the track unfolds, tight, stop-start melodic phrasing acts as the engine room, creating a feeling of suspension and anticipation. These intricate structures — paired with The Velvet Effect’s haunting delivery — guide the track into a beautifully restrained yet powerful drop. Magnetude are back on Evolution Chamber with a serious heater. Their latest track, ‘Muleta’, sees the Anglo-Russian duo push boundaries once again—this time blending high-octane Neurofunk with bold Latin and Spanish influences. It’s a combo you might not expect, but one that absolutely slaps.

‘Muleta’ kicks off with a tension-soaked intro that feels like the build-up to an old-school Western shootout—complete with mariachi flair and Latin-tinged instrumentation. But don’t get too comfortable. Once the drop hits, it’s full-throttle Magnetude: razor-sharp basslines, tight drums, and that huge cinematic energy they do so well.

The second drop takes things even further—amped up, darker, and packing an extra punch. It’s a track that doesn’t sit still, always moving, always evolving, and built for dancefloors that like it fierce.

Across the undercity streets that lay beneath the hoverways of his home metropolis sped an inventor astride a singular scooter, a creation cobbled together from technologies long disregarded by most of his mechanically minded contemporaries. Though the roadways of the undercity had long laid untended and were now riddled with potholes, bumps, and obstacles of all sorts the inventor rode on undaunted, assured in the multifaceted capabilities of his two wheeled contraption.

Flanked by twin ride-along automaton’s that constantly aided in attending to the vehicle’s maintenance, the inventor headed his convoy with reckless abandon. A flick of the handlebars would engage a brief maglev pulse launching him sufficiently above any obstruction, whilst a set of inertial dampeners prevented any ill fated injuries on the return vector of any such launch. The vehicle’s wheelbase could be adjusted mid-ride, allowing for precise control or a smoother ride as the inventor saw fit, and he could rest himself upon the seat of an ancient bicycle should he wish, an item of rare provenance indeed given the longtime adoption of levitation based transportation by all those around him. Though he admired the technical feat of that transportation mode, the inventor far preferred his own device. To feel the road beneath one’s own feet was a luxury many had forgotten, and as he accelerated into the glistening urban night he relished in the freedom that he found in doing so.

In 2022, coming out of that very weird lockdown, I was starting to sketch in the studio. I made Life Is But A Dream, and I had no idea what to do with it. I knew I was stepping away from my own label Hospital Records, and that was it. I played the track to my agent Chris BluMarTen and he instantly said "send it to Goldie. That would be a vibe to release on Metalheadz". I loved the idea so I did, not expecting for a minute that Goldie would like it. To my surprise, he called straight back, and said he liked it and he’d like to release it.

This felt surreal - All my D&B had only been released on Hospital ever since 1996. And now I was looking at a release on the OG of foundation labels.

G said make another tune, and I was tossing ideas back and forth with Conrad Subs, and we came up with a beat we liked. I’ve been following Genesis Elijah for years, always loved his lyrics and flow, and I sent it him, and he came up with the vocal lines for All On Top. Again, Goldie loved it, and we had a release ready to go.

I’m beyond proud and grateful for the opportunity to release on Metalheadz.
