Sasha Rosser, formerly a data scientist and currently a Russian-American stand up comic, joined Thursday 8 O’Clock Buzz hosts Tony Castañeda and Eli Wilz on the eve of her first album’s release. 

Having abandoned academia in 2022 to pursue something more promising than a PhD and career in neuroscience, she immediately founded Cheshire Cat Comedy and by 2023 was a finalist in Madison’s Funniest Comic. Being voted “Best Comedian” in Madison Magazine’s 2024 Best of Madison most certainly proved her academic doubters wrong. Since then, she has recorded and released the album Dirty Nerd, available for purchase and streaming starting on Friday, August 30.

Sasha was recently favorably described by a critic as “a unique, fearless voice that you come across very seldom. She’s a complete maniac and undeniably hilarious.” On the new album recorded at Crucible Madison, her “dark, dirty stand-up” is bookended with original music made through her side project as exandroid.

Sasha Rosser, local comedian and producer, joins the 8 O’Clock Buzz team in the studio to talk about her new show, Oh My!, taking place at The Crucible tomorrow night, December 13th.  The show is billed as a half comedy and half burlesque variety special featuring jokesters and daring solo dancers.  The Crucible is located at 3116 Commercial Avenue in Madison with doors opening at 6:30 PM.  So, try your luck, give a yuck, and be entertained by a show that doesn’t suck.

I have often longed for change and felt that my situation was unchanging, but eventually you find yourself in a new situation and change has gradually taken place. She talks with Tony about the failed school funding negotiations between Republicans and Governor Evers, as well as the increasing privatization of Wisconsin schools and a push to decouple school funding from property taxes.


Representative Cruz, a former teacher and union leader is a freshman in the Assembly and serves on the Education Committee.

A full time, freelance children's book illustrator, introduced to Magix music making software in January 2014.  Haven't been near music production since school about a hundred years ago.  Can't play a note, and sing like a drain unblocking - Hence any music I may eventually have the nerve to upload is all created using midi/vst instruments playing compositions created in the piano roll editor.   The Magix forum dedicated to music production is the only place to suffer my creations so far.  Didn't realise it could be so much fun though.  Woohoo.
