New single 'Then There You Are' dropped on June 28, 2024.

2023 was the most expansive year for dark-folk solo acoustic artist/singer-songwriter David Benson, aka Said Sara, who debuted live in 4 countries. Succeeding the victory of dissemination that was 2023’s Same, Said Sara has created the emphatic but affectionate Then There You Are out of pure stardust.

Now approaching full-circle, Said Sara is the unfeigned extension of Benson’s musical and psychological essence. Said Sara is as all-encompassing as it is personal. As a child of the 70’s, he grew up on the singer-songwriters of that era: Stevens, Croce, Taylor, Buckingham. But Benson is a metalhead and a punk (yes, both) in his blood – as he’s been since adolescence. Benson wrote dark, stripped-down hymns in the early-mid 90s, which never saw the light of day until Said Sara’s self-titled EP was released in 2020. With a reawakened mania for songwriting, the singles I Star as You, Bleedways, Sea, and Same followed.

Benson is currently working on a new album - the follow-up to 2022’s Theothanatology - with crusty death metal warhorse Acephalix, for which he has played drums since 2008.

Benson resides with his family in his native San Francisco, where he works as a special ed teacher at a public high school.

Daisychain is a movement to showcase power, beauty, and strength of DJs and artists. Like the sequencing of electrical equipment, Daisychain will connect and develop a symbiotic network of trans, nonbinary people and femmes - from all backgrounds. DJs and artists from these realms of identity will continue to find their strength in sound by showcasing their art for a weekly guest mix series.
