Tormented.dj developed an early fascination with industrial landscapes and sounds. Starting as a drummer in death metal and hardcore, he transitioned to techno after discovering Detroit’s underground scene. Now based in Detroit, his music channels the city’s raw energy into dark, industrial rhythms.

Nick Burgess is a student of Detroit, prioritizing the groove while seamlessly weaving between deep acidic Techno hypnosis and punishing Industrial sonics. In the short time since making his debut, Nick has played every hour of the night across notable Detroit venues such as Leland City Club, Marble Bar and Tangent Gallery as well as making appearances at the Tec-Troit Electronic Music Festival and the Lollapalooza after party circuit in Chicago. He has shared the bill with the likes of Skee Mask, Headless Horseman, Black Asteroid, BMG, Terrence Dixon, The Brvtalist, and Underground Resistance artists like Mark Flash and Esteban Adame. As a producer, his hypnotic and abrasive productions have been released through labels PITS, Junted, Detroit Underground, Ominous Earth, Collapsed Structures and his co-owned label, Apocalypse Rave Culture.

From an early age, he was captivated by industrial landscapes and the unique sounds they produced. His first musical passion was drumming, which led him into the intense worlds of death metal and hardcore. However, his journey took a pivotal turn when he was drawn into the depths of the Detroit underground scene, sparking a profound transition to techno.
Now deeply entrenched in the dark, industrial corners of the techno underground, Tormented.dj crafts sinister DJ mixes and produces music using only hardware. Currently residing in Detroit, Michigan, he channels the city’s raw energy into every beat, creating a sound that is as haunting as it is captivating.
