Graduating through Education & Bass, RNS & RDubz have been going under the "Saraphim" alias for 2 years, this release follows a single release on Education & Bass, a 4 track EP release with Locus Sound, a track on Sentry Records’ Syndicate Pt 2 compilation, a remix for Dread or Dead Records and 2 releases with Japanese based Vomitspit.

The EP as a whole has a middle eastern theme, the title track "Hennya" is a high energy yet melodic 140 track where the lead drives the groove, "Ifrit" again is designed for the dance with strong bass and leads driving the energy, "Monsoon" takes a darker and confrontational vibe and "Strange Charm" rounds off the EP with a captivating groove from the strings to send you off to another realm.

I wrote this originally for a remix but ended up taking out the vocal and doing something else for that particular project. I always liked this though, I pictured it being the soundtrack to me driving around the Italian rivera in a Ferrari Dino with Monica Vitti in the 60s. :)

Copenhagen, the new album from Stillhead mixes experimental, cinematic and futuristic dub, glimpses of drum & bass and his trademark deep, expansive, intricate sound. Immersive and wide-screen electronica meets ultra-tight percussion with a variety of vocals peppered throughout.

Alongside a full album of original tracks, there are a host of incredible remixes which bring the sounds of Stillhead that little closer to the dancefloor.

Bop, Hatti Vatti, Versa, Tonik Ensemble, Mr. Roque, Generate, Other Spectrum and Another Channel all bring their unique sounds and production genius to the table taking their remixes in a range of new directions.

The album is Stillhead’s document of his year spent living in the Danish capital.

Stillhead - Copenhagen LP [Remixes preview mix] [CD2]

Om Unit completes the journey of discovery and growth he begun on 2017’s acclaimed Self album with a pack of four remixes that expand on the themes and sonic palette of the record. A connector at heart, the man known as Jim Coles invites likeminded producers to interpret songs that bridge the album’s flexible styles and embrace the vulnerability and exposure at its core. 

First up is dBridge, who modifies “What I Can Be” featuring Amos, aka Amina Osmano of A/T/O/S. A pioneer of the drum & bass scene and fearless sonic explorer, dBridge gives the song a subtle but tense touch, placing harsh and abrasive progressions and dissolving snares against the softness of Amos’ voice and beauty of the subject matter. “I always liked Darren’s own vocal tracks so I wanted to hear what he would do with this one,” explains Coles. “I love the result and it made perfect sense to me as a dBridge fan.” 

Following this is the inimitable SKRS (aka Seekers International) out of British Columbia, whose sound system experiments have been some of the most vital in recent years. They first caught the ear of Coles via a recommendation in Bristol’s Idle Hands shop and it turns out the appreciation was mutual. Here they lend their deconstructing touch to “Passages”, keeping the original’s melodies while pushing it further into a soundboy abyss of flying rhythms and vocal samples. No sound test. 

Up next is Birmingham’s Sorrow, a young producer who refashions one of the album’s stand out cuts, “Nothing” featuring Rider Shafique. A meditation on suffering and change, Sorrow gives the song a melancholic feel, keeping its slow pace while rising its hopeful potential with deep anchoring chords. “It’s a real headphone masterpiece in my book,” says Coles of the remix. 

Completing the circle of Self Remixes is O$VMV$M, the ambient and lo-fi duo of Young Echo members Sam “Neek” Barrett and Amos “Jabu” Childs. Here the pair apply their ethereal smudge to “Tahatan”, slowing everything down until it feels as if you were hearing the song from just beneath the surface of the sea, the sound distant and the sunlight reflecting and creating shimmers in your field of vision. 

What began as a desire to experiment and push forward for Om Unit comes to a rightful and hopeful end with this short remix collection, opening the door to others and letting them apply the reflections of their own journeys onto the material.

In the last few years, Lewis James has gone from being an artist on the rise to establishing himself as one of the most exciting act to emerge from electronic music. His debut EP on Exit Records backs this statement up without question. The features on the EP speak for themselves: Lorn, dBridge and Alia Fresco. Aesthetically Lewis James has put together an EP that traverses different shades of electronica whilst not losing a sense of identity, an identity that is truly Lewis James by way of Exit Records.

Deep Heads are proud to present an amazing remix from Om Unit.
The track is entitled ‘Hold On’ by Zeb Samuels and is taken from Zeb’s recent album release ‘Hope & Light’

The original is a solo track from Zeb and centre around a composition on piano, followed by vocals and some weighty beats and low end to tie it all together.

Om Unit takes the original Piano hook and puts an array of detailed drum work and precise baselines behind the production, that give this remix a classy drum & bass twist.

DUB'RAW is proud to present "Ultimate Campilation Vol. 2" - a new volume in a compilation series focused on a bass music from both established and coming up Russian speaking producers. Musically most of the tracks covers different sides of bass music though all of them are united by solid rhythm, weighty bass and soundsystem esthetic. The idea of creating this compilation was born in June 2018 at the DUB'RAW Camp (annual summer soundsystem weekend at the Black Sea coast). That's why we named this compilation the "Campilation" as a tribute to this memorable camp. It's remarkable that a large part of involved artists are presenting south Russia, where DUB'RAW got it's roots. We give thanks and respect to all who were involved in creating this piece of art. "MOMENTS IN TIME"

Producing music has always been a therapeutic process for me. It's one of the only things in my life that I can sit down for hours at a time, completely focus, and reach a state of tranquility. Over the last few years whenever I have been experiencing an emotional state, the genre of what I describe as "lush 85" has been there to serve as an outlet to express the turmoil I'd been experiencing. Directing this energy into music has been extremely powerful. By expressing our emotions through the arts we can transform our trauma into something extraordinary. If we don't acknowledge our emotions and find healthy ways to process them we miss an amazing opportunity to evolve and align with our higher self. 

Although these tracks represent the darker times in the last two years I was experiencing heartache, suffering, and betrayal, the EP as a whole carries a sense of hope and wonder. While working on this type of music I often questioned why during such dark times I always found myself lifting up towards the light vs remaining in darkness. I think this is because I've always felt that every dark moment has something to teach us. Either we can let these moments consume us or we let them guide us to our inner truths to reveal our true selves. 

The dark soundscapes of dubstep and halftime are very important to me and will always have a place in my musical expression but they are an intended action with intention. My intention when writing this music in particular, is not to fight the darkness with more darkness but to shine a light and open myself the unknown. Music can act as a daily journal, allowing you to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper, allowing for mental clarity and understanding.   

Most of my releases are a collection of tracks meant for DJs and big soundsystems. This release is much more personal. I hope you enjoy listening to start to finish as it carries you through a "Moment In Time" - Inspired by the likes Margari's Kid, Stay, Kid Drama, Amit, Hidden Turn, Om Unit, Tycho and Synkro, it blends various sounds, influences and my own various styles into what I believe to be my most coherent work to date. 

This release marks the end of a big chapter in my life. It serves as a reminder to everything that I have experienced, an anthology to honor my past with gratitude, and move forward. The music and growth I have experienced are a gift. I now graciously share this gift with you.
