The birth of Ancestral Voices represents a new path for an established and highly respected producer. Liam Blackburn carved out a singular musical voice as Indigo, and also more recently as half of acclaimed duo Akkord. Inevitably a new approach to creating music has developed into a new identity: seeping with textures, loaded with a taut energy that whispers tales of shamanism and transformative life experiences. Stripping back an already unique creative process proved a challenge that has paid off, and Blackburn's evolving sound has no immediate sonic comparison. With distinct resonances of his musical heritage flowing through a more mature filter, there is a mystical atmosphere that resounds through the LP as you hear Ancestral Voices emerge triumphantly into the world. The Ancestral Voices debut LP is an insight into a subconscious journey; fully formed as one accomplished 'Night Of Visions'.

“With the ever-expanding archive of music we've released over the last 35 EPs, 2 CDs and 1 vinyl outing, we've done our best to catalogue the best dubstep we can get our hands on. Whether from an upcomer, or an established producer, we give every musician we work with an equal standing on our little soapbox. The next artist to take the stand is the first UK-based man on the buttons since June 2016's FKOFd029 from our boy Chokez – and we're delighted to have Teffa give us his take on 140bpm. 

“Our latest 4 track is an adventurous, explorative effort around the edges of what we've pushed through the label. Taking the blueprints of old school material with its beats, bass and space ingredients and adding some new school spice sees Teffa's FKOFd034 rattle the bass bins to full effect. We kick things off with 815D with its otherworldly samples, rolling sub and clattering drumwork. It's the nightmarish soundtrack of a dying planet, one that threatens the rewind at every draw. 100s Of Lightyears continues the chillingly spaced theme, stripping the music back to its bear minimums while losing none of the raw power.  

“Tar Goroth brings some Tolkien-esque vibes to the EP, lumbering along with its depths and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. We wrap Teffa's debut on FKOFd with The Main Question – a delectable synthy addition that was one of the first tracks we signed. You'll want to listen to this one on a rig a few times, trust.

“This is Teffa's third release in 2018 and we're not surprised the producer's getting some well-deserved label attention. If we keep getting monsters like we've signed from the young producer's studio there's a promising future ahead of him. Keep eyes and ears locked for what comes next!"

Hey everyone, little explanation about this tune. Phineus II (@phineus-ii) started this track a while back but never finished it. Kid Lib sent the parts over and I finished the track, but it was never marked for release, was kept on dub for us to DJ with. 

But in the recent run-up to the Phineus II album on Green Bay Wax (@green-bay-wax), there was a miscalculation in the postage charge, which led to the necessity of this release to raise extra funds to make up for the shortfall. Here we are with our 12th vinyl release. We’re really proud of our back catalogue, and even prouder to be able to add more to it. And what better way to expand our portfolio than by inviting yet another exciting artist to join our 12” club. And this artist is Ricky Force – a man who’s seen it all in the more breakbeat-oriented face of drum & bass, pushing his trademark intricate percussion programming since 1999, releasing quality music on labels such as Reinforced, Repertoire, Omni Music, Pinecone Moonshine, DSCI4 or 117 and now finding home with us. Without further ado, here’s Ricky Force and his latest single – a pair of not your usual 170-BPM masterpieces leaning heavier towards roots vibes, jungle, halfstep, and dub (Ricky’s from Dublin, so it makes total sense). “ Ecstasy ” starts with a looped vocal bit that leads the listener on towards a thick bush overgrown with full-bodied kicks, sharp, frantic breaks, and a bassline composed of massively booming bits that are bound to keep you on your toes, especially if you have the chance to enjoy it on some proper sound-system. “ Firehouse Dub ” is, in turn, a solid half-stepper strongly rooted in jungle revivalism. It marches slowly and steadily, unfolding some interesting stories on the way – a series of thickly-arranged broken beats, a pack of blares, some vocal bits here and there… Put together, they create an amazing mixture of classic sounds organized up to modern-day standards with surgical precision only Ricky Force is capable of. A true feast for all those into the less polished and more true-school shades of drum & bass.
