Echoing analog drum machine woodblock hits help create a propulsive rhythm atop a sprinkling of glitching electro FX and churning low end pulses before a heady riser delivers us to the wiggling 8-bit vibe bass arpeggio that bores through the track’s meaty middle. More retro computer game sonics emerge in the riff that filters and teases into earshot. Layers of fizzing techno energy raise the track further before we reach the tense breakdown phase. The riff judders and shimmers around the soundscape before one almighty filter sweep slams us front and centre back into the buzzing electro groove. The bassline slowly recedes into the background as warped percussive rhythms lead us out.

Captain Mustache returns to Exploited following the success of his Ulysses collaboration ‘Monkey Brains’ and other releases on KOMPAKT, Permanent Vacation, Bordello A Parigi and Return To Disorder to name a few. Fellow Parisian POPOF makes his debut on Exploited on this release, bringing with him his years of experience working with the biggest names in techno, from releasing on Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings to remixing The Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode and Moby.

Oscean comes out firing from the outset on their new 12" entitled Multirays. The Argentinian duo of Andrés Zacco and Sebastián Galante are following up on the first release of their collaboration, Ideoma, also released on Tresor Records. With Multirays, this burgeoning collaboration reveals a promising evolution, moving into more rhythmically diverse environments and playful structures.

The opening track, Multidimensional, strikes with confronting beats and a searching, woolly bass sound. Constantly growing, it moves confidently with its skittering percussion work, ebbing and flowing through filter movements and expansive synths. Invisible Rays draws in breathing techno pulses, as Zacco and Galante cast drenches of feedback across the spectrum. A deceptively mellow melody, recalling Spiral from their debut EP, teases at a deeper melodic progression, but the focus stays locked on the animated rhythms, tempting towards divergent grooves but expertly keeping feet on the floor.

In Drivion, Oscean investigates electro territories, simultaneously bubbling and driving. Echoed arpeggiations and upfront beats funnel impulses between neurons. Broad synth gestures offer gateways into abstraction before, without barely a hint, the rhythms beat once more. On the closing track, Horisonsz, the duo drive forth through skipping rhythms and soul-searching bass murmurs. Synth pads beckon with fresnel lens reflections and rising warmth, motioning towards a stunning moment of euphoria, where futurist mirages coexist with distant memories.

Plant43 announces new EP, Remote Signals

Anyone who has had even half an eye on the electro scene over the past decade will already
be familiar with Emile Facey aka Plant43’s unique sound, mixing an uncompromising approach
to off-kilter rhythms and machine-led funk with an emotive and powerful use of melody. Remote
Signals features a trio of ultra fresh tracks, penned for recent live shows in The Hague (The Crave
Festival) and a coveted slot on the Globus stage at Tresor in Berlin, and are brimming with the
energy and excitement he felt on his return to the live circuit after the pandemic.

This EP, the ninth release on Facey’s Plant43 Recordings label, is led by a booming kick drum
heavy enough to move any audience, with Facey weaving ever more complex webs of melody
around it. ‘Searching The Skies’ builds a mysterious atmosphere based around a call and
response between characterful melodic elements while ‘Constantly Morphing Entity’ closes the
EP with a flourish of driving beats and an SH101 bassline designed to move the dancefloor.

“After more than two years away from playing live, hearing from The Crave Festival and Tresor
in early summer ’22 was like a light appearing at the end of the tunnel. I jumped at the chance
and began rapidly writing new material. There’s often a long gap between writing and releasing
new music and so I put Remote Signals right to the top of the Plant43 Recordings release
schedule to capture the spontaneity and excitement of the unforgettable experience of

Based in the South of England, UK, Emile Facey is also a graphic designer and illustrator. He has been promoting underground electro and techno events since the late 90’s. As a producer he’s been releasing records since 2005 with a string of releases on respected scene favourites such as Central Processing Unit, Frustrated Funk, Semantica, Shipwrec, 20:20 Vision and Cultivated Electronics, among others. He has played live alongside DJ Stingray, ERP/Convextion, The Advent, Surgeon, Legowelt, DJ Overdose, Urban Tribe and Datassette among many others.
