The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

This time, Johannes Brecht has taken hold of his own original and offered his individual take on the piece. His classical training and a sharp ear for sound shine brightly all the way through.

Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons return to Crosstown Rebels with the iconic I Found You, remixed by Black Coffee and former resident of Trouw Patrice Bäumel.

Lazarus closed his Day Zero festival in Mexico with I Found You back in January, and since then it has become one of his most requested tracks. His magical live project The Ancient Moons was first unleashed in 2014 with Lover’s Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya) and followed in 2015 by the highly acclaimed album, A Message From The Other Side, co-produced with James Ford. Since then, Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons have travelled the world with their highly immersive live show, supported Roisin Murphy on tour and played at Glastonbury festival and Melt! amongst others.

The Fader labelled The Ancient Moons “a journey into techno’s dreamiest recesses” and the four piece have been continually shrouded in mystery. Last year Lazarus and his collection of musicians retreated into the Italian countryside and started work on new and self-produced material. The Ancient Moons brings together Zulu on vocals, Ben Chetwood on electronics, and Rob Gentry on keyboards. I Found You is the first fruits of their labour. Continuing a path first started by the band’s anthemic single Vermillion, I Found You is intensely soulful, warm and paired with anthemic vocals from singer Zulu. This the first of a string of tracks from the band in 2017.

Lazarus comments: “This is the first time I've created music in a band situation and I loved every moment of it. I decided to make the new music as a collective and the four of us have created magic. The energy that we enjoyed from beginning to end of this process was electric."

Champion of the South African electronic scene Black Coffee supplies the first remix, and takes I Found You to new dimensions. This is a rare remix outing from this pioneering South African DJ. Amsterdam based Patrice Bäumel is a former resident of the now legendary Trouw and has released on Get Physical, Systematic, Diynamic, Kompakt and My Favorite Robot among others. Patrice adds complexity and takes things deeper and more atmospheric. It’s quite the package.

Teeming with flair and charm, two redoubtable heavyweights of the scene - rave pioneer Sasha and house music star Kölsch - have come together to release a sun-drenched single titled 'The Lights'. It is the third official release on Kölsch's IPSO imprint and follows two previous collaborative releases from the Danish producer with Michael Mayer and Tiga.

Having already gained support from Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 program, 'The Lights' is an expertly crafted progressive track that allows each producer's signature style to shine through with true majesty and delight. 

Sasha and Kölsch's single 'The Lights' drops on March 22 via IPSO.

@tomdemac is no stranger to us, with well-played releases on Hypercolour, Electronique Audio and Glasstable, we were happy to offer him a home with Kompakt in 2018 thanks to a collaboration with Real Lies titled “White Flowers”. Tom returns to Kompakt, this time solo with the 3 tracker “Serenade” .

The title track is delicately brought together by a fragile piano rhythm and poetic wisdom over the might of the kick drum. Tom says its best that “Despite it being a little generic adding spoken word talking about music over actual music, the poetic nature of the delivery and description of the effects and emotions that music can bring, really worked with the piano I had written for this song.”

“Seventh Sign” was initially intended an experiment in cello recordings through an effects pedal but ended up being track brimming with pure techno groove. Second Skin is the perfect finale embracing epic elements of broken beat and even IDM sensibilities with a gorgeously misguided horn leading the march.

On Serenade, Tom Demac shows he has what it takes to reconfigure the vitality of what emotive techno can be. A central force that has kept the beat of Kompakt’s heart in rhythm since day one.

A familiar face on the Berlin techno scene, Marcus Meinhardt can frequently be found ripping it up at Kater Blau and many of Germany's other leading clubs. He is also no stranger to Exploited Ghetto with previous slammers like 'Hibiskuss' and 'House Of Beats' doing major damage.
 
'Masada' is another beast that builds imperceptibly to an intense throb through its perfectly balanced arrangement. A plump kick underpins shuffling tambourine rhythms and woodblock hits, while moody synth stabs give a sense of what's to come. Droning textures growl as hints of the bass tease into life. On-beat stabs filter up ever-so-slowly while rasping electro pulses thrust into the groove. A rapid-fire synth refrain adds more colour before swathes of white noises lift the track upwards. 
As the synth interplay continues to intensify, snare rolls usher towards new levels of intensity. The succinct yet deadly potent main hook of the the track is brought into play, dragging a spine-tingling chord progression with it. The on-beat stabs brigthen in their intensity, creating a real sense of urgency. A big snare-roll filled breakdown teases us before the arrangement is stripped back to its tribal simplicity before the final crescendo of the track hits us. Fans of Innervisions and classic Bodzin and Huntemann material should lap this right up.
