Sandhog’s star continues to ascend with these two deep new rockets from the Swiss producer. The bouncing, twanging bass pulse of ‘Accent’ is soon built upon by dramatic ‘80s synth-pop blasts and a plucked riff that hammers away while drenched in a spacious reverb. Soon the full glorious melody unfurls, bassline and riff chromatically descending in unison. Subtle automation gives these spine-tingling riffs more power still, and a distorted, bleeping lead cuts through the soundscape dramatically while a spoken vocal adds more colour. A bluesy harmonica lick appears out of nowhere, providing organic counterweight to the synthetic tension as the percussion builds. Next, a throat singer intones a mystical vibe with a droning modulation, like a human didgeridoo. Monotone yet constantly evolving, it’s a fascinating contrast to the delightful, playful synth hook that rises from the depths and could easily be from a classic Depeche Mode or The Cure record.

Underground System returns to Razor-N-Tape with the Looking In EP - a 5-track offering of fresh originals and remixes. Ranging from low-slung balearic grooves, to driving left-field funk and urgent uptempo backbeats, the record is a fine-tuning of the US sound, complete with their signature flute and synth soundscapes, driving percussion, and catchy offbeat vocal hooks. Borut was here

I don't know who Borut is or what, but I can't say the title of the song without a Balkan accent haha. Of course everything gets twisted here as well, Borut also stutters, he has a hard time with the sub weighing on his shoulders, but in the end they reach a vineyard when the open bassline pats him on his back in a friendly way: you were good, but now I'm coming. They chat a little more together in the poplar forest and when it starts getting dark, they leave for good on the back of a feedback.
