MEXA returns to it's harder roots and sound with the latest from Vegas' own lords of the dark and underground, Spacebyrdz and Justin Baulé. 

'Devil Drugs' is just as doomed and dangerous as the title suggests. Hypnotic voodoo rhythms lure you in while heavy haunting unyielding penetrating percussion hits hard to take you to that other level. The mesmerizing perilous male vocal is none other than the reading of an infamous quote from Paul McCartney on his experience with LSD, and just as the drug does, this track will take you on a trip. Perfect for heavy twisted late night vibes, this track is an instant go to for late night or heavy dance floor heaters. 

'Fuego Contenedor' keeps that same darker vibe but pulls you in more passively. While still maintaining that tech core, there's a much more subtle and sexy approach to its hardness. Highlighted with more spacey synths, the track builds slowly to a deeper darker eerie vibe. 

The EP closes out with 'Too Close', sampling the classic favorite 'Too Close' by NEXT from the height of the R&B days, the second that familiar beat and vocal comes in it becomes an instant feel good favorite. The way they cut up the vocal sample and give it edge with heavy synths takes the bouncy track to adopt that harder eerier vibe evident on their first two.

Meet Shivers* aka Timothy Love, a Sydney based Dj / producer who is of Antipodean stock, but it was his formative years living in the metropolis of London through the early 90's that has forged who - and what - he is today. 

After tracks released on Mother Recordings, Sleazy Deep and Runnin Wild, Shivers* is back with two own extraordinary pieces of work - "Feel This Way" and "Take You" - this time recorded for Polish imprint Exotic Refreshment. 

EP includes also two equally massive remixes of "Feel This Way", made by Russian expert S.K.A.M. (OFF Recordings, Gruuv, ALiVE Recordings, Exploited, Akbal Music, NastyFunk Records and more!) and Australian born and Berlin based dj & producer Eluize (aka Alley Oop).

'I wrote this record thinking about a couple I met some time ago in New York. 
He's a tall distinctive afro american man in his mid forties very fond of his clean shiny vinyl shoes. He loves Soul Black Music and has a soft spot for women in general. 
His wife knows that but hopes one day he will have eyes just for her. 

She's not a spring chicken either and lives day by day waiting for something magic to happen while she poures average filtered coffee six days a week in the local cafe' where she works.
They are so different but there is one thing they have in common 'Their favourite record'. 
One evening walking back home Shirley was feeling a little sorry for herself not knowing where Leo had been for the last days. But all of a sudden she has the impression of hearing their song.. and then louder & louder and from the distance Leo appears driving an old blue cadillac that reminded her so much of the car he drove on their first date 20 years ago.

He stops, smiles and looks at Shirley with guilty eyes and tells her "I've got so many things to say to you". He opens the door for her and they drive home without saying one more word but just listening with a dreamy smile to their song "When I hear my record I know I'm Home".
They kiss and enter the front door and from that moment they lived the rest of their days like if they just jumped out of their favourite song.'

Here's an official remix I made for the German Tech-House producer Stimming. It's coming out on a charity compilation by Diynamic Music which includes remixes by Cassius, Kraak & Smaak, Hot Chip, Digitalism, Gui Boratto and many more. Had a lot of fun remixing this track as I was a huge fan of the original ever since it got out like 5 years ago. I'd describe my remix as kind of a Funky Tech-House vibe with a touch of Nu Disco. Malente - 'Rip It Up - 10 Year Anniversary Edition'

Some of you might know Malente from recent releases like 'Crusaders' (2012) on Defected 'I Like It' (2009) on Fool's Gold, or 'Gipsy Kings' or 'Habibi' (2010) on Exploited, some as head of his label No Brainer Records. But there was a Malente before this Malente and funny thing is: Most of you - those who are old enough - know that Malente too. You just don't know you do.

To refresh your memory we remaster and overhaul Malente's first albums which are not available digitally yet. Starting with 'The Spirit Of Malente' and 'No Risk No Funk' last year we now bring you his third album 'Rip It Up' originally put out  2005. Where the original album holds 13 tracks, the completely remastered 10 Year Anniversary Edition features 26. 

For this release we took the 'Rip It Up' idea as a cross between album and remix album a bit further. The anniversary edition combines the original tracks of that album like 'Dancefloor Whore' and 'What You Got' with not only the best reworks from the original 2005 album, but also lots of brand new remixes. This links the organic P-Funk Breakbeat of 'old Malente' seamlessly with the House and Electro of 'new Malente'.

We not only dug thru the archives for some yet unreleased remixes from back then, but also remodeled the tracklist to integrate the new remixes properly and keep the flow of the album. We made this shine for 2013 so you can fully experience 'Rip it Up'. 

A must have for fans? Yes. But even if you never heard of Malente this is something for you.
