Dutch duo T.U.R.F. bring the heat to Exploited again after contributing the super-hot ‘Sneaky Ways’ last year. Their knack for a tasty groove is very much intact, with two surefire disco house slammers on this release.

‘Good Times Roll’ builds a foundation of chunky beats around some sweet jazz-funk vibes, with dashes of sax and clavinet interpersing the piledriver bassline. Jaunty pianos loop tensely and quickfire white noise builds and cymbal echoes keep things energetic. When it comes to high energy, organically-textured house music, these guys really know what they’re doing. 

‘Street Talkin’ is a deep and jacking groove built around small disco loops that filter in and out of the foreground, with super-skippy beats cutting against the deep textures of the melodic elements. Looped vocals and infectious fills and to the groove’s bumping feel, and a soulful breakdown blasts into an extra-funked-up section full of incessant horn and electric piano flavour. 

With other contributions on Tensnake’s True Romance label and Till Von Sein’s Tilly Jam, T.U.R.F. are rapidly carving out a name for themselves as ones to watch. Don’t sleep on these bombs...

Moon Boots’ acclaimed LP ‘Bimini Road’ revealed the Brooklyn-based artist in peak form. A showcase of his soulful house music stylings, the 2019 album gained praise from DJ Mag & Mixmag, and was named in KCRW’s ‘Top 10 Albums of 2019’. Following Alex Metric’s rework of highlight single ‘Whisper In the Wind’, ‘Tied Up’ now receives the remix treatment from Grammy-nominated producers Kenny Dope and Mat Zo.

Making his Anjunadeep debut, four-time Grammy nominee Kenny Dope demonstrates the influence of his funk roots with grooving bass riffs and jazz-influenced instrumentation in his rework. A world-class producer, Kenny’s offering clearly demonstrates why he’s often called upon to remix legendary artists such as Madonna, Todd Terry and Daft Punk.

A familiar name in the Anjunafamily, label legend Mat Zo has garnered support from electronic heavyweights such as Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, and Tiësto throughout his career with his distinctive progressive sound. Mat turns in a hard-hitting twist on the original, layering Moon Boots’ disco melodies with percussive breakbeats and granular sound design.

At threethousand.co.uk, variation is everything. As a collective of writers and individuals we can safely say that our routes into dance music in general are all so different and yet so similar. We truly believe that there are no boundaries with electronic dance music and the more we can cover, the happier we will be! 

Today we are taking a slightly different path to our norm as we head over the to the Champion Records camp for an exclusive premiere. For those that aren't aware, it is somewhat of an honour to be working alongside the Champion team, being one of the most influential yet undercover label profiles across dance music as a whole. Headed up by the living legend that is Paul Oakenfold, Champion have played host to some of dance music's most popular tunes across the world, including Kristine W's 'Feel What I Want' and of course the untouchable 'Show Me Love' from Robin S. 

We are therefore are diving into their latest release remix project, seeing them bring together four spicy reworks of Raze's 'Break 4 Love'. The project holds some gems for certain, from Rob Made's incredibly cheerful Disco rethink, to a breaks infused oldschool overhaul from Child Of The 90's. We also taste some original UKG flavour with BK298's shuffling recreation, before diving into our official premiere of Block & Crown's official remix, which can be streamed here.
