Hailing from Arnhem, KATOERAH began as a straightforward techno artist, but over time his sound has grown more experimental, drawing from acid, post-punk, EBM, and industrial. What was once driven by dancefloor energy now pushes into unfamiliar territory, exploring sound wherever it wants to go.

Deep, dark and dubby. Those are just some of the characteristics that define the sound of Arnhem-based DJ’s Lex Veenendaal and Peter Wormgoor, aka External Similarities. Their extended DJ-sets are fueled by a fierce passion for deeptechno in all its facets, in which slow-moving atmospheric collages are preferred over dancefloor potential. It’s techno designed to cater to the mind, heart and soul, and not so much the feet per se. Quality-craving techno fanatics will definitely approve of the duo’s track picks, in which the sound of labels such as Spazio Disponibile, Hypnus records, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Northern Electronics and Edit Select Records is ever present. As such, External Similarities are among deeptechno’s most exciting acts and clearly worth keeping a close eye on.
