This week’s DETECT comes from one of our own. @teecra opened our UNFOLD XL edition four weeks ago from our Second Room, and we bring you this today. 

Teecra’s presence is most visible at UNFOLD either at the entrance or the floor, yet she also plays a big part helping behind the scenes, from our communications to our marketing.

Years of organising house and drum & bass raves in North London gradually introduced her to techno, and these influences are still felt today in the bouncy, positivity exerted by the music she plays.

Her own drive in life comes from a desire to demonstrate that trans people come in many forms - that there is no one way to be trans. 

For her UNFOLD XL opening set Teecra initially delves into trance, dub and percussion, before ramping up the energy and exploring the many varied grooves of techno. This DETECT can now be heard on our FOLD SoundCloud.

Explorers is the title of the new format from our good friend and simply stunning Paul Krause aka DJ Spit, aimed at open-minded and contemporary audiences who are ready to embrace and discover its motto of > genre-fluidity <. DJ Spit himself, undoubtably one of Germany’s current dance music shooting stars, is an avid promoter of genre-defying mixes and selections with a focus on high-energy bass-music hybrids that recalibrates the perception of what you’d call > Rave < through styles like Drill, Drum&Bass, Ghetto House and much more. Dashing through myriads of genres and styles and different forms of musical abstraction, DJ Spit makes big pop-gestures and experimental polyrhythms seem like close relatives in the blink of an eye. 
It’s not hard to see why DJ Spit is one of the scene’s most in demand party-starters! And the rendition of Explorers at Blitz on Friday 10/02 could hardly be more exciting, with a thrilling array of acclaimed DJs sharing decidedly modern and multifaceted perspectives on club music, such as Bjarki, I. Jordan, rosi96 and SHERELLE.

An intrepid selector with divergent tastes @mikey-bman style is best described as musically untethered, fusing rapid hard hitting sounds with industrial elements whilst experimenting with multiple sub-genres of leftfield, techno, breaks and hard dance. 

Founder of RNGD (Renegade), a prominent icon in Sydney’s techno culture specialising in unfiltered sides of electronic music his passion for the underground music scene is limitless. Having supported major acts such as Kobosil, VSK, Jensen Interceptor and Reptant to name a few, with a forte in late night vibes and high energy he always aims to unhinge the dance floor.

Last but certainly not least at the Fetish House, @jaydeisabel. After coming across Jayde on SoundCloud we were blown away by her most recent heavy techno mix called ‘techno xmas’. We knew she would be a perfect fit for this location and we were so grateful that she finished off the Fetish House on such a high. 

This mix progresses through dark, spooky and industrial sounds with intricate/delicate highs - lucky since this was able to keep Blake wide awake behind the camera after an 18 hour day of filming.

For The Hustle No. 65 we're off to explore some more raw, technoid sounds with Wiesbaden born, Berlin based DJ Jesse G! She is part of legendary Tresor Club's DJ team and has a residency at RSO Berlin. In addition to her own showcase ,What's Cooking’ on HÖR, she also co-hosts the radio show ,necton’ on Refuge Worldwide and works at the record store Hard Wax, so the top notch selection of floor melting techno tracks in this mix should come to no surprise to anyone familiar with her!

The last guest to join us on our UY Pride Podcast is Anna Laura, popularly known as DJ Hyperaktivist.

Anna Laura @Hyperaktivist is from Venezuela, now based in Berlin. She is the founder of MESS (Mindful Electronic Sonic Selections), a forward-thinking club-night with a focus on queer and femme artists; and the co-founder of MALA JUNTA, a collective of DJs offering hard-hitting intimate queer techno parties. 

Being friends with the founders of UY Studio, Anna Laura has been close to the brand since its start. We are happy to have Anna Laura joining us for this podcast to discuss her career as a female, non-european, queer DJ, and how she makes space for minorities within the scene. Anna Laura shares from her personal life, from her coming out as a Lesbian to how she came to the name of ‘HYPERAKTIVIST’. 

In this podcast we sit down with Anna Laura to discuss Pride Month in Berlin. We discuss the clubbing scene and lifestyle within Berlin, personal challenges of coming out Queer, and her thoughts on Pride Month and CSD in Berlin.
