you know how it is when you’re in the midst of something very clearly unhealthy, but are in so far and can no longer make sense of your surroundings. whether you’re blinded by love, or are wading chest-deep in any toxic relationship for that matter, this song is what we feel when we come to terms with our situation and make the decision to leave or just stay sucked in.

we’re in this race called life together, so why do we so offen try to compete with each other? i’ve often felt like i am shat on and receive the short end of the stick, but it’s all perspective — we’re all going through shit, and stumble our way through life in our own ways. maybe it’s a little pick-me-up, or maybe i’m just numb to everything? who knows.

this cinematic-sounding piece is the way i interpret human behavior: predisposed to conflict, and no matter what we do, resolving one confict just to start another (for often stupid reasons). locke-and-hobbes-esque perhaps, and definitely nihilistic, but it’s only one person’s persoective :)

this one’s pretty self-explanatory: you, the protagonist, in a fruitless attempt to evade a wolf matriarch and her pack. with celtic/folk vibes, i think it matches the storyline pretty well!

Call Into The Wild

one of the more benign subjects of all the music i’ve written thus far and probably the most i will publish. largely acoustic with other folk and pop influences, this piece is essentially just a glorified metaphor of my songwriting process. you’ll find out that the laid-back and a relaxing lo-fi (of sorts) sound is a great foil to a lot of the more thematic and theatrical songs.

despite the light acoustic sound and percussion in the chorus, this song focuses on a little more macabre subject. i and a lot of people make no qualms about needing help and asking for it, while and others either ignore us or shun us because they view us as “weaker” or “incapable” for having asked in the first place. the lack of help and direction keeps us “stuck in the woods,” as the song implies, and the birds and deer are representstive of those people. it’s not too much to ask for help when you need it, and yet some people will never be able to.
