Unsere heutige Ausgabe entführt ins in die Schweiz zu Don Son, welchen wir bereits seit seinen Anfängen kennen und zu schätzen wissen. Sein Sound besticht aus einer Mischung aus verspielt organischen und treibenden Momenten, die somit jedem Raum zum Träumen und Tanzen geben. Sein für uns eingespieltes Set im XXL Format, vermittelt einen tollen Eindruck des oben beschriebenen und glänzt mit tollen Übergängen, sowie mit einer ganz besonderen Atmosphäre. Einer Stimmung, die einer Afterhour voll und ganz gerecht wird.

✔️ Was sind deine musikalischen Einflüsse? Was ist dein musikalischer Hintergrund?

Meine musikalischen Einflüsse sind weitreichend und ungebunden. Grundsätzlich fahre ich schon eine emotionale Schiene, da mir der Ausdruck der Gefühle immer sehr wichtig war, sei es durch Texte oder Melodien. Unmöglich, das in wenigen Worten zu konkretisieren. Auf der anderen Seite hat mich amerikanischer Hip Hop aus den 90ern und 2000ern sehr geprägt, ich rappte sogar selber für über 10 Jahre. Wir haben heute noch ein riesen Vergnügen in die über 1000 aufnahmen reinzuhören.

✔️ Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?

Auf alle Fälle Spass. Die richtige kombination aus Menschen, die eine tolle Synergie ergeben, und sich auch für ein wenig Schabernack nicht zu schade sind. Und selbstverständlich der passende Soundtrack, was aber kein bestimmter Stil sein muss, wenns passt, dann passts. Obst und Tee schadet auch nicht.

✔️ Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?

Ich freue mich bereits seit einem Jahr auf den Tag der veröffentlichung. Natürlich ist das ein schöner Moment, zumal ich den Channel schon viele Jahre verfolge und deren Diversität sehr schätze. Mir war wichtig, ein paar eigene Tracks einzubauen, und drumherum eine Geschichte aufzubauen. Eine Mischung aus emotionalem, organischem Indie Dance entstand.

Nico Tober at Mystic Creatures Festival 10.09.23

Expressing myself with words is one of my strengths, yet writing about Mystic Creatures Festival really challenges me, as a part of me is still there. I could not have wished for a better season closure than this weekend at that mystical island alongside so so many friends, some of my favorite artists and a spectecular weather. I was many times in awe with how beautiful this festival and the location were and felt so often immensely blessed and grateful to be a part of it.

This summer was, for me personally, the toughest I have experienced in my adult life.  Since I feel very seen and free as a mystic artist, I took the chance to dive deep into my own process and transform it into art. If you have been listening to my sets so far, then you should be familiar with how the healing power of music expresses itself through me. This time, it really took an unforeseeable depth, which really touched and touches the bottom of my soul. I dedicate this set to my ancestors: I stand upon your shoulders and, without you, I wouldn't be experiencing this miraculous life; may those of you who do no longer live rest in peace, and may those who still breathe enjoy every bit of the life ahead of you 🙏

When I started my set on Sunday at 21:00 in the Tiger's Tent, the dance floor was totally empty. I would lie if I say that didn't get to me. But within just a few minutes it got full, it was so beautiful to see how many people came to see me. There were some technical difficulties with the recording, so I ended up not recording the crowd in the first +- 15 minutes. But I still managed to integrate some crowd interactions to help us feel the energy that took place during my set. It was an experience for all of us who were there, I have no doubt. 

I want to give a huge thanks goes to the organizers, the island owner, the crew and every volunteer who gave their time and energy to make this festival what is was - we made history together. Another huge thanks goes to all the friends and (some of my favorite) artists who came to listen to my set - that's the perfect combination anyone wishes when playing a special festival gig like this one. I so so appreciate the awesome energy you've brought with you, from wild joyfulness to heartfelt tears. Thank you <3

💿 Wieder im Saft 💿

💭 Das Leben verläuft wechselhaft und nicht stromlinienförmig. Dadurch gleicht das menschliche Gemüt eher einer Welle als einer Geraden. Mal geht es besser, dann wieder schlechter. Mal kann man sich vor übersprudelnder Energie kaum halten, dann wiederum kommt man kaum aus dem Bett. Um in der Tendenz eher über Wasser als unter zu wandeln, benötigt jeder seine eigenen Methoden und Lebenspraxis. Es ist wichtig, sich selbst und seine Motivationen sowie auch Stressoren zu erkennen und angemessen damit umgehen zu können. Dazu gehört auch, sich ab und an eine Auszeit zu nehmen. Diese kann bspw. als Urlaub, Pilzwanderung oder Tag am See gestaltet werden. Die einzige Bedingung ist, dass man danach gut gestärkt in den Alltag zurückkehrt und möglichst unbeschwert dem Leben entgegentritt. 

🎵Heute haben wir Wille zum Wahnsinn auf KataHaifisch zu gast. Bei diesem Act handelt es sich um ein offenes Kunstkollektiv, was in verschiedenen Konstellationen Musik produziert und performt. Dabei werden Grenzen zwischen Genres neu definiert oder gar ganz links liegen gelassen. Für Max, Jules und Simon ist Musikproduktion eine Reise durch die phantastische Welt der Synthesizer. Dabei sind fesselnde Melodien, sprunghafte Arpeggios und sogar Disco-Vibes in ihrem Repertoire zu hören. Wille zum Wahnsinn steht für Freundschaft, Leidenschaft fürs Studio und Live-Auftritte sowie die Freude am Experimentieren und ausprobieren.

Absurd Mixtape Series 062 by Mono & Kusten

Huiuiuiui. Das war “einfach - ehrlich - blau”… und absolutamente fantastisch!!
4 Stunden Abfahrt plus 45 spontane Extraminuten weils so schön war.
Und frei nach dem Motto "wenn fast nur noch Knaller Tracks mit Vocals produziert werden, dann spielen wir halt fast nur noch Knaller-Tracks mit Vocals" kann diesmal nicht nur getanzt, sondern auch mitgesungen werden ;)

Danke an alle, die es möglich und unvergesslich gemacht haben. Ramschakllove!

PS: Leider hat es das erste Drittel nicht aufs Recording geschafft (irgendwas ist immer) und wurde daher via Remote Auflegen in Ableton neu gemacht und drangeschnippelt. Haben uns Mühe gegeben, dass aber trotzdem alles klingt wie ganz in echt ;)

🚢 Wow, what an incredible feeling to play at beloved Dampfer for the very first time! 💞🧜‍♀️ Having dreamt of this moment for years, I would have never imagined myself playing downtempo in Sisyphos.. since this was also the first time, that the Naked Tea Party took place in Dampfer, I think it's fair to say, it was a special event for all of us. 💫 To see the floor transform into something new through the music played, was just magical. All together, we - hosts, organizers, dancers & djs - created such a smooth, pleasant atmosphere. A memorable night. Thankful, to participate in this. ✨

Grateful, that I was trusted to curate music as I please, thus the sets starts off smooth and moderate, in a way 'warming up' and paving the way to slow'n'deep, yet driving eccentricity, without speeding up bpm. Just, what felt right for this special occasion 🌓

When listening to Ezio Aguiar's sets, regardless of tempo or genre, one notices a particular mysticism mixed with different organic, melodic and progressive elements.

He would call himself a believer in the healing and connecting power of music and dance. And if you have ever caught him dancing with his eyes closed behind the decks, then you probably understand why. Combining rhythm and harmony, charm and depth, dreaminess and magnificence, his musical tales captivate and take his listeners on a warm and ascending journey. A journey into their own wildness - one which uplifts the soul with majestic beauty, yet grounds the body with prominent and pulsating bass. 

The Brazilian born and Berlin based artist has played in infamous German clubs such as Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Rummelsbucht, Bahnwärter Thiel or Mensch Meier as well as at festivals like Feel Festival, Lusatia Festival, Kiez Burn and more. His musical signature can also be seen in his curation of the musical background for ‘Burning Man: The Build’ – an official Burning Man aftermovie which has won several film festival awards and has been firing up thousands of screens around the globe.
