Alfonso Pomeda is one of the finest underground artists from Madrid, not only in the Electronic music world, but as a person totally dedicated and involved in different music projects like his now online only record store “…Is The Place” or being the co-director of the spanish events Sonikas and CALMA. He also co-directs the labels Downbeat, Eleve and Memories on Wax and Alpenglühen which takes the ambient path.

As a DJ, he covers a great variety of styles like 4x4 electronics, experimental music, ambient, the more atmospheric horizontal Techno and American House.
Wise music artist with progressive, deep and long mix sessions, pretending to be trips and stories with a beginning and an end, with special attention to speech.

This month, Alfonso’s label Downbeat has a vinyl reléase in coming with music by one of his label parters Jose Rico.

F-on (@f-ondj) presents MOSTRA Barcelona Festival full line-up.

This is an exclusive vinyl-only session with music from some of the artists from Mostra Barcelona Festival (@mostrabcn). The mix showcases the different styles you'll find at the festival, with a flowing coherence to the sound. It starts with ambient and electronica and continues into a hypnotic, gliding deeper techno sound. The two ABSIS tracks serve as a bridge between styles. The session concludes with broken rhythms of sinuous bass and Lynchian atmospheres. This month’s introspective podcast comes from one of the most well respected ambient and deep techno artists and promoters in Spain ~ the Madrid-based Alfonso Pomeda aka F-on 🍃

Alfonso has been on our radar for a while, popping up on line-ups of our favourite festivals and putting out mind-blowing mixes for the likes of Harmony Rec., Lowless, Oslated or Delayed among others. His own Alpenglühen project has been at the epicentre of Madrid’s electronic music scene, restlessly providing impecably curated events and archiving mixes from an impressive roster of like-minded artists 💫

Alfonso’s intricate podcast is a long-player deep listening affair. A room in the dark is needed, with a good stereo sound system and a TV monitor, computer or projector, where the videos can be projected.

In the ideal listening position, the head should be at the height of the speakers, in a frontal position and centred between the left and right speakers. The use of headphones is also recommended.

We suggest: sitting on the floor, on a sofa, or in a comfortable place; and watching the video on a TV, or computer screen

How to proceed: Choose the best moment, alone or in company, adapt the space, relax and disconnect.

En este nuevo capítulo de nuestra serie de podcasts tenemos el honor y el placer de contar con F-On, uno de los DJs más importantes de la escena nacional. El bagaje de Alfonso Pomeda es largo y comienza a despuntar en su Madrid natal con residencias en clubs míticos como Soma o Morpheus, para ir pasando de fase al comenzar a organizar varias propuestas como el festival de música experimental Sonikas o la sesión Eleve, más centrada en el Dub-Techno. Tras esto llegaron nuevas aventuras, montando sellos como Downbeat, Eleve, Memories On Wax y Antimatter; a la que se unió hace poco otra nueva propuesta, Alpenglühen, que comenzó como un club y ha terminado siendo un sello que explora el mejor dub/deep techno de la actualidad. 

Y, más o menos, entre medias montó Is The Place, una tienda de discos en la que muchos de nosotros encontramos gracias a sus recomendaciones algunos discos que han ido marcando nuestro estilo a la hora de pinchar y buscar nueva música, abarcando todo tipo de estilos dentro de la música electrónica y también con una buena selección de Disco, Jazz y Funk para los más melómanos. En esta estupenda sesión de más de dos horas desgrana sus últimas adquisiciones a base de vinilos, con una técnica depurada y un estilo muy cercano a lo que publica con su nuevo sello.

In this new chapter of our podcast series we have the honor and pleasure of having Alfonso Pomeda aka F-On, one of the most important DJs on the national scene. The background of F-On is long and begins to emerge in his native Madrid with residencies in mythical clubs such as Soma or Morpheus, to go through the phase by beginning to organize various proposals such as the Sonikas experimental music festival or the Eleve session, more centered on Dub-Techno music. After this came new adventures, managing labels like Downbeat, Eleve, Memories On Wax and Antimatter; which was recently joined by another new proposal, Alpenglühen, which started as a club and has ended up being a label that explores the best dub / deep techno of today.

And, more or less, in between he set up Is The Place, a record store in which many of us find, thanks to his recommendations, some records that have marked our style when it comes to DJing and looking for new music, covering all kinds of music. styles within electronic music and also with a good selection of Disco, Jazz and Funk for the most music lovers. In this stupendous session of more than two hours, he reveals his latest vinyl-based acquisitions, with a refined technique and a style very close to what he releases with his new label.

NNY Podcast 014 (F-on)

We are very glad to host for this new episode of our mix series, one of our favorite DJs and very good friend Alfonso Pomeda aka @f-ondj . As a true figure and one of the most active persons we ever met, F-on is a model when it comes to knowledge and passion in electronic music.  Alfonso has been running for a few years one of our favorite record stores in Madrid that has turned to an online store only since a year. He is also behind a couple of labels such as Antimatter or Alpenglühen. He has founded a new series of parties called @calmamadrid with his close friends dedicated to develop listening sessions of Ambient music in the Spanish capital.
As a regular at Paral-lel Festival (hope you didn’t miss his latest set for their online edition a couple of weeks ago) or at clubs in Spain or abroad, Alfonso is well known for his long downtempo journeys which can also be very intense. 

Some good news, he is releasing very soon an EP together with Kawn on Antimatter. 

He delivered for our mix series a 3:20 of experimental, ambient and dark progressions and we are really fond of it. Thank you Alfonso <3

With every step forwards it’s a step more into the unknown. Cautiously pushing of an ocean bed a thought catches you off guard – this certainly is the last time in a long while before the familiar grains of sand will greet your tired feet anew. Though, consciousness now has its battle – the darkness beneath the body, the black waves catching up to you. Life long fight with self, the fight against the fear of nothingness deep under.

F-on (Madrid, Spain) | ‘La escucha atenta’

La ‘escucha atenta’ (attentive listening) represents above all paying attention and concentrating on what is being heard. It requires a willingness to follow the reasoning of what is being told. The listener does nothing more than that: listen, interpet and understand. It is essential that the message is cordially accepted by the listener, as it is, creating a context of closeness and trust that facilitates the exchange of ideas from those who need to express themselves.

From a glacial surrounding, completely isolated and with nothing more than the blizzard strumming. An introspection from the deepest edges of oneself through the ascension to the clouds. A continuum of imaginary mental antonyms from cold / hot, human / non-human, good news / bad news, brightness / darkness, peace / war, freedom / slavery, antiquity / modernity, security / insecurity, gentleness / ferocity, looseness / tenseness…are just some of the crossroads we had when we listened to Alfonso’s storyline.
