Lisene

As the son of an accomplished jazz guitarist and a pop singer, Lisene (Marlon Morris) was brought up surrounded by a wide spectrum of music from an early age. Growing up in the cultural melting pot of Brixton, his exposure to DIY soundsystem culture, as well as his own musical experimentations with family and friends, naturally lead to an interest in both the scientific and musical side of studio work.
After relocating to Leeds to study audio engineering, he released two records on the then-unknown but now highly sought after 'day by day' label, informed by 90s techno, IDM, and trance.

This was followed by a collaboration with his friend of over 15 years Adam Pits, with their first release as Space Cadets on Seven Hills picking up a huge amount of attention and landing them a string of gigs across both the UK and EU. No stranger to burning the midnight oil to hunt for tracks, Lisene's record bag is of the highest standard, diverse and full of surprises. Channelling the spirit of the 90s through the sound of the future via a stash of 12" obscurities that would be the envy of a collector twice his age, his sets flit around the psychedelic fringes where techno, trance, breaks and electro meet, weaving together a sonic tapestry far greater than the sum of its parts.
He displayed all of this next to astronauts like No Moon, Peach, Objekt, D.Tiffany and plenty of other space explorers.

With multiple Space Cadets EPs and his own work about to launch on some of the biggest labels in the scene, as well as his sublime collaborative project On Rotation catching absolute fire with their second release by Solar Suite just out including a Roza Terenzi Remix. We warn you not to blink as this guy is moving at the speed of light, so without further ado enjoy this 2,5h mix recorded at Wire, Leeds.

Back in April I had the chance to play at one of the coolest parties I've been to, WARNING in Berlin. Originally was booked to play as Space Cadets but Adam was ill so I did it solo, was quite nervous at the start (which never usually happens), when the pitch of the first track starts drifting by itself you know you're in for a real ride!

Luckily with the support of my friends and a really up for it crowd, I got into a flow pretty quick and everything just started to work - I think you can really hear that moment happen haha. The party was billed as a rave and I really leaned into that vibe, so lots of acidy bits, trippy tools and fast transitions!

Was a real pleasure to just play a bunch of my all time faves to such a great crowd on a ultra crisp and deep system, big love to anyone who was there! Hope you had as much fun dancing as I did playing <3

Most underground movements in the arts can be boiled down to one key ingredient: friends doing dope shit together. Childhood BFFs Luca Medici and Delbert Perez have been doing just that with INVT (that's "innovate"), a multidisciplinary art project that spans club music and streetwear. Before exploding onto the international stage and playing to massive crowds in Ibiza and Tulum, the Miami natives built a solid community at home through electrifying DJ sets, releases and fashion. They might be globe-trotting artists now, going back-to-back with artists like Skream and playing Panorama Bar, but their raw DIY spirit stays strong.

Their tunes and live hardware shows fuse jungle, techno, East Coast club and dubstep—and lately, tech house and tribal house—with bass-heavy Latin genres like cumbia and guaracha. A reflection of Miami's diverse demographics, their genre cross-pollinations bring together skaters, dancers, artists and various subcultures. Their clothing lines are equally cross-cultural: repurposed vintage items made from screen printing and acid washing, using photos and designs that represent their home city's vibrant street culture. True to their grassroots ethos, everything's done in-house, from mixing and mastering tracks to embroidery.

The next-gen duo's ultra-rhythmic productions, characterised by deep, swinging drums and trippy textures, is delivered to the world at a rapid-fire pace, testament to Medici and Perez's seemingly insatiable hunger. Their explosive career has helped bring fresh shine to Miami talents who feature heavily in their sets, including this RA Podcast. Featuring DJ Babatr, Coffintexts and plenty of their own unreleased heaters, INVT's mix represents their friendships, community and Miami's thrilling melting pot of dance music that they're still a core part of even as they move across the globe.

Accents Podcast Series #031 - ADAM PITS

In the midst of a thriving music metropolis finding a sound of your own that people can identify with, let alone a direction that gives your music the space to progress, can be a particularity difficult thing to obtain. But it seems like the Leftwing & Kody duo have crafted a sound that is as raw and underground as it is popular and party-minded. Building up their production capacity has seem them work alongside titans like Robert Owens and Romanthony and their collaborative efforts have already been saluted by luminaries like Carl Cox while the OFF Recordings and Saura labels have been quick to release the boys' house and techno trimmings. Yet it's in the cuts on their own Lost Records label where the two of them have truly explored their capacity for high-level constructs, releasing the upstanding I Know EP to much acclaim and recently announcing their new high energy bassline flex, One Nation.

Amir Alexander - The Main Room - Circoloco June 1st (DC10)

The fledgling Birmingham duo, LFM & Mali (aka Luke and Liam) might be reaping a lot of salutes from the biz with their own genre-defying dancefloor dynamism but it seems that it's what the boys do beyond the decks that is making an even greater impact. The mastermind(s) behind one of the UK's most bubbling club programs, Seedy Sonics, the boys have built a platform that sees major names link with flourishing talent helping to affirm Birmingham's thriving reputation as an epicentre for first class electronic music. Together, they've forged forwards regularly appearing at the aforementioned event but also at a slew of party hot spots, including the Midlands' infamous 02:31 party; whom they'll be joining in Room Two a week Friday. Currently in Ibiza - at one of those hotspots we mentioned - Luke and Liam very kindly put together a mix that they describe as "a snapshot of what you could expect from us playing a peak time set at one of our Seedy Sonics events". They also answered a few probing questions so we could introduce them officially before they join us on Friday 19th June.
