Mexican artist Rodman dives deep on his Falcata EP for Ineffable Records, containing five club-ready tracks, with sound textures being the focus, and a remix from WVWV head honcho Octoptic. Following on from the success of his debut La Fragua which featured fellow Mexican, Nico (Timedance/Grid).

The record's title comes from the name of an ancient sword, which is quite apt as the sharp sound-design & impressive perc work slices through the EP from start to finish. It fluctuates between moods, touching on the deeper, dubbed out & echoed sounds of Rodman's palette, and moving swiftly into complex rhythmic patterns that were definitely built with the club in mind. Thus providing the perfect blend between enjoyable listening and being weapons for the dance floor.

Being one of Mexico City's superb up and coming producers, Rodman continues his perfect streak of releases to date with this breathtaking release. Finding itself on a label that shines a light on Mexican artists, it just feels like a perfect match.

SPLOT – collective, club night, record label. Founded in 2019 by Glassz and Guiltee with a goal of challenging and broadening the ideas of club music existing in our local scene. Having the mission of spreading our fascination with broken beats, dub, techno, UK bass and anything in between at heart, we’ve already had the pleasure of hosting a couple of renowned artists such as Batu, Zenker Brothers, Bruce, Rhyw, Appleblim, Low End Activist, Awkwardly Social, Forest Drive West or Mani Festo and trailblazed our own bass-path through the city soundscape, releasing local talents such as dadan karambolo, IWANN, Yes Stanley and a 10-track VA called Crystalline with gems from the talent of Polish underground scene.

The next transmission from SPLOT is courtesy of 2Shy. Half of a Warsaw duo Private Press. He comes through with the tuff 4-track EP where space meditations meet rolling beats. Extraterrestrial machine sounds act is a leitmotif of Khalma II where 2Shy seamlessly blends syncopated rhythms with elements of UK techno-inspired workouts and tribal-dubbed out influences.

The opening track ’Aura Frequency’ is the full-bodied statement of the EP, channelling a distinct kind of spiritual energy and getting all hypnotic, organic, breaky and bass-centric. The title track ‘Khalma II’ brings focus to the mechanical soundscapes, drifting between cold-metallic electro and the more dubbier side of things – all stemming from beloved 2Shy’s machines. Next up, ‘Maxi Edits’ seems to be paying homage to early pioneers of dubstep that got us into all of this; it’s a dreamy and dub-heavy tool, full of emotional flavour with smooth bass and soothing synth patterns. The last track ‘Linked’ is surely one of the most forward-thinking tunes of the EP, strictly dominated by massive drums and inspired by the futuristic 117 BPM hybrid of techno and dubstep.

We’d also like to give a big ‘thank you’ to the Xaoc family on behalf of 2Shy. His daily work with their gear has been a massive inspiration for him. You can hear the modules he calibrated and tested daily on ‘Linked’ and ‘Aura Frequencies’.

He delves into Jungle, Techno, Footwork, and 140 with his music spans various labels such as 4NCY, Nü Kvlture, Optikal Dubs, B&H Records, and Excess, as well as multiple self releases.

Sertraline Dreams is a testament to the boundless innovation within the electronic music scene, reflecting his versatile style and emphasis on creativity. With a fusion of breakbeats, garage, and drum and bass, this EP pushes the boundaries of what's possible in electronic music, while paying homage to the rich history of these genres.
