Melé is a beatmaker and DJ who has received radio play from some of the country’s key players in Annie Mac, Mista Jam and Zane Lowe, and been supported by club DJs including Rustie, Hudson Mohawke and Shy FX. With releases across a host of labels including Sinden’s label Grizzly and Mixpak Records, Mele has been invited to make appearances at Radio 1, 1Xtra and Boiler Room, and put together mixes for LuckyMe and Red Bull Studios in London. His remix credits have included Disclosure, Gucci Mane and Wretch 32, and he’s spent the last forging a creative studio partnership with premier grime MC Kano.

Friends of Red Stripe Podcast - Klose One

This Friday, Black Butter Records take on the role of hosting Room One, enlisting the phenomenal, Rudimental and the legend that is Roy Davis JR to front the lineup. They’ll be flanked by the likes of My Nu Leng, Woz and Wayward, presenting the majority of the label alongside the sounds of Southern Fried cohorts, Maribou State. It’s no doubt then that the takeover will create a little dancefloor hysteria, delivering not only one of the UK’s runaway success stories of 2013 but also displaying the momentous degree of talent to rise out of the Black Butter label’s ranks. So in full preparation for the revelry ahead, we’ve recruited Bristol’s Woz to drop an exclusive mix, giving us a little taste of what’s in store come Friday night…

With a constant influx of high calibre artists, our club programming has been bombarded with a veritable who's who of Bristol lately. We’ve housed label takeovers and had sets from notorious artists and newcomers alike and we’ve even had two of the city’s acts handle our latest mix CDs with Eats Everything and My Nu Leng turning in fabric and FABRICLIVE 86 respectively. 

Sly One are another act emerging from out of the notorious city’s postcode. Support for their music has thus far come from the likes of Monki (who selected their track ‘Cowbell’ for her recent FABRICLIVE 84 CD), Annie Mac and dance music powerhouse Black Butter. They're also getting salutes from pals My Nu Leng with whom they'll be celebrating the launch of their FABRICLIVE 86 CD in a couple of weeks (on the 4th March) when they help take the controls in Room Two for the subsoul takeover - another night where Bristol will once again be heavily represented thanks to recruits like Woz, New York Transit Authority, Jus Now and Icarus.

With the upcoming date also their Farringdon debut we deemed this another apt opportunity to get to know our new recruits so we asked them a few of our probing questions and asked if they wouldn't mind illustrating their answers sonically by way of brand new mix.
