With this extreme sound statement titled ‘Facing The Absurd’, Nekyia and Fossa Del Rumore aimed to express a common point of view on what we all call reality, probably a standpoint shaped by their life in the magnificent yet creatively arid city of Firenze, while experimenting with sound as they have always been doing during their long-lived collaboration. Let’s face the irrationality of things, the lack of meaning of an alienating life, the limits of human condition; and let’s embrace this condition with a new inner quiet, shifting the focus on the beauty around and within us, with perception as a source of inspiration and personal improvement. The chase of a chimerical meaning keeps still making perfectly sense for us as transient individuals. ‘Facing The Absurd’ is a dark collection of absurdist theories written through the meeting of modular noise, post-industrial and bass music-infused techno explorations, with a multi-tempo improvisational approach and subtle tributes to extreme music scenes.

Up to kick off 2021 in the most adequately frenzied, thoroughly corrosive fashion, DDS04 serves up a quintet of chrome-tanned, hi-velocity beats courtesy of Italian hardware fetishist Anna Funk Damage (previously heard on the likes of Mind Records, Lux Rec, Lazy Tapes and more) and Austrian-Hungarian outfit Dutch Courage - alias Superskin & Új Bála - each of whom step up to the plate to deliver an exquisitely ear-wormy slice of their deranged industrial gospel.

A-side starts off to the sound of AFD’s hard bouncin' "48 Hours Death" - a raw-cooked deluge of head-reducing EBM grit, flaring binary signals and Giallo-infused arpeggios out a blood-stained Suspirian tale. Fear for the deadly scalp hunters lurking in the club’s darkest nooks, they’ve just sniffed out your trail.

Brutal churner “Youssef” picks up the torch and pulls out the quake-inducing breaks without further ado, dressed out with languorous Orientalistic melodies and steely distortions tailored to bend mind by the dozens. Forged in the furnace, the full-out punk-minded “I Come From Fire” rounds off the side on a drum and bass-heavy note, drawing as much from 60s psych-garage as it does from 80s deconstructionist tape music.

Flip sides and here’s Budapest unit Dutch Courage taking the reins with the off-kilter treat “Hand Of The Sword” - navigating a weird zone of its own, floating astride post-apocalyptic Bristol bass, sliced-and-diced abstraction and overly textured yet equally bone-bruising riddims.

Wrapping up the journey with both force and serenity, “Neo-Soulmates” follows a similar path with its warped synth flexions and raucous machine cries making the rounds from one end of the spectrum to the other effortlessly, merging to give birth to something genetically contrasting from any contemporary. A most fitting finale to an EP that celebrates and encourages sonic bizarro in all its forms and manifestations.

Second release of the year already from the party music people of Abstrack. This time, it’s Brussels based artist Strapontin whose original production is on the menu, with re interpretation from several gifted companions. The multitude here is no excuse for genericity or easy recipes, rather a fertile playground for toying around with a wide range of vibes and moods.
Matches is a poetic, sensual spoken-word piece. The song feels like a flower about to blossom, though with plenty of hybrid DNA in it. In the end it leaves the way wide open for further emotions to get through. And they do.
Sasnal Park is the emotion of wander : looking for something forever, but for what? The drums make you believe that you found it but they turn out to be a mirage, and so does every tangible element of the track. A beautiful journey in the end even if you don’t know where you’ve been.
Family Diner … no ambiguity this time : a mystical roller as dark as it is trippy. Or maybe more trippy. Either way, not sure you can resist dancing to this one played out loud. Lose yourself to screaming halfway through, but only to fall back well rooted in those dancing feet afterwards.
On the flip, remixers put it where they’re expected to : A Strange Wedding takes the wandering “Sasnal Park” on the Edge of trancy club music, closer to the roots of Abstrack parties.

This compilation includes additional screen sounds from the unpublished tapes of composer Tomislav Simović also featured in Dušan Vukotić film The Visitors From The Galaxy (Gosti iz galaksije, 1981). With courtesy of Tomislav Simović Estate artists were given complete creative freedom to remix, reinvent and re-imagine the futuristic soundscape of first science-fiction film in Yugoslavia that was scored in analog, abstract, electronic and synthesised music.

This makes Tomislav Simović the first and the only one composer in ex-Yugoslavia region to gain such unique international recognition and tribute of wide spectrum of contemporary musicians from different parts of the world: United States, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Serbia and Croatia.

Sleep had become her enemy; when night began to fall the panic set in, a feeling she knew all too well now. But the source remained unknown, she couldn't trace the unexplainable throes of her dreams — dreams that bordered on nightmares. Staying awake was not an option, though one she'd previously tried out of desperation, her only hope was to regain control of these unconscious moments, before she slipped too far beneath.

Rome-based producer Cosimo Damiano is making his return to Dj Inner Lakes’ Survive imprint for the third time with an 8-track LP titled 'Hypnos'. In parallel to the Milanese imprint's mission, Damiano seeks to connect styles and technologies from across different eras; an approach that manifests across his new album, so to does his previous work with classical and contemporary musicians. Inspired by the Greek god of sleep, he crafts his own language that examines the space between the conscious and subconscious, drawing from sonic references like acid techno producer Curley Schoop and Coil, as well as literature and cinematography.

Freeride Millenium label co-founder Jorkes quickly follows up his well received Wet Dream EP with a new
five tracker including remixes from Younger Than Me and Curses.
Jorkes is the driving force behind the ever-excellent Freeride Millenium label, he hosts a residency at radio 80000
alongside ParisBöhm and has been busy producing and streaming over the last year, despite the pandemic. His
recent ‘Wet Dreams’ release was a critical success, with BBC radio support, a raft of press coverage and a mass of
DJ support, now he follows that up with this latest inventive and rugged EP of club sounds.
Opener 'All Your Juices' has snappy snares and a taught, tight groove that makes for a mechanical rhythm. It
eventually grows looser with big synth sounds and vamping chords that layer in fluidly and a great sense of
electronic funk. Remixers Younger Than Me are a Berlin based duo that represents a link between the old and the
new. They have released on the likes of Tusk Wax and here flip the original into a dark and pulsing tune with
hammering drums and edgy, trance influenced synths.
In original form, 'Dancer in the Dark' has a kinetic drum and hit combination that makes you immediately jerk your
body. As the synth energy grows, celestial chords bring light and cosmic rays and take you off into the future. Dark
disco don Curses then steps up with another brilliantly rugged and raw remix that layers sleazy synths into angular
drums. Finally, the brilliant 'Afraid of Letting You Go' has an eerie and mysterious vibe with crashing hits and
unsettling synths that make for a dystopian abandoned warehouse feel.
Once again here Jorkes has cooked up left of centre sounds that draw on synth, disco and techno in bold new
ways. Artwork as always comes from the ever creative Daniel Rajcsanyi.
