We’re more than happy to kick off our compilation series, right after experiencing a global pandemic that ended up changing our reality and how we interact in it completely, we decided that it’s time to lay the cornerstone onto NATIVO. Seeking to promote a safe space and new perspectives for electronic music in the north of Mexico, with an approach that prioritizes the musical part and always on the side of artistic concerns, our creative team: Roliva, Prince Terrible, Fausto and Chinosynth, identified the need for a platform where all this could happen in the region.

Celebrating the beginning of this journey, we’ve prepared a compilation of 9 tracks by the creative team and guest artists such as: Alex Aguayo, Undefined Pattern, Technicism, Sixtoagusto and Velax. It registers the birth of this trip with new sounds, considering and honoring references of the past, thus narrating a new spectrum of possibilities. Volume 1 it’s a sonic adventure to contemplate, and at the same time, enjoy from beginning to end.

We’re not a label, nor a promoter, venue or club. We’re a space for the electronic music culture and its actors. If it’s honest and well done, we’ll take it.

Russian syndicate Oberwave opens its doors to “Darkness Mit Pommes”, the debut album of the interesting Berlin-based duo Snake Milk formed by none other than singer Joy Tyson and DJ/producer Skelesys (SXDNS139) on the synthesizer and drum machine duties. Expect romance and passion, light and darkness, deep vocals and mechanical rhythms, authentic Cold Wave and modern Dark Disco spread through the solid and well-constructed eight tracks of the insightful release. Gegen Mann (SXDNS220), Unit-83, Leo Sagrado, and Morze (SXDNS151) jumped in to bring some remixes to raise even more the bar of the album.

Premiered here, the beautiful title track enchants since its very beginning with its bouncing bassline, delicate guitar riffs, creamy pads, mellow synth layers, and ace vocals. A pureblood Synthpop cut devoted to triggering emotions and dance floor dreams.

Emotional Response presents Elektronik Body Girl, a musical alter-ego of artist Shelbatra Jashari, with production support by soFa elsewhere. Spontaneously born out of 2 souls in an imaginary industrial wasteland, this Belgo-Albanian postpunk extravaganza is perfectly suited for unreal times. 

Infused with raw attitude and an improvisational approach, Shelbatra is a cross-media artist, dancer, performer, and singer pushing expressive forms in new territories, challenging boundaries. She deals with the "empowering feminine” and its representation - a vision central to her artistic creation. 

Teaming up with Brussels based soFa, they debut an EP of challenging storytelling. The rough percussives and atmospheric oeuvre fuse with Shelbatra’s performance, her vocals exploring roots in both Kosova and Belgium, from the position of “the other” or the outsider. 

With a wonderfully conjured beatdown remix by label associate, Tolouse Low Trax, to act as a seal of (dis)approval, soFa’s recent collaborations as Mameen 3 (Bongo Joe), CCCVVV (Strangelove Music) and the highly praised Houschyar and Okay Temiz collaboration (Second Circle), has established him as a producer of repute in a short time. 

Outside such “normality", together a different energy is heard. Exploring elements of the human body, the human condition, and its representation in various “thinking” systems and political contexts, EBG is manifestation in sound with movement.

Jack Carel, makes his debut on Fill-Lex records with a mini album in the form of a tape. These tracks wander through his closest influences, electro, IDM, industrial music and EBM. Jack made a complex tribute to the most experimental music, mixing textures and frequencies, as can be heard in the introductory song of the album, "all eyes", or closing the face with Sand Storm with more raw and industrial dyes typical of EBM and industrial electro. 

Turning the cassette we find a Carel more bizarre, with tracks like "no return" where his sharp hi hats, along with a penetrating melody will make you dance like a man possessed. With "tri cops" they lower the revolutions again and light the fuse of the musical density typical of industrial experimental music.
 
Each track is a different project, different approach and different interpretation ..... no geners, no limits!

For its forthcoming episode, Espacio brings back the seasoned made-in-Belgium duo Marching Machines with their insightful and imperative 'Hymn' EP - and the lads do not come alone: The ace remixes provided by none other than master Damon Jee and the label boss himself are the icing on the cake. Both, by the way, adopted the same 'formula' for their collaborations: Respecting the originals by keeping most of the main elements but adding their widely known characteristic sonorities.

The three originals (Chrome, Empire, and Holograma), in turn, present themselves as a true showcase of both the technique and the creativity of the Machines. Their heavy and dense but highly danceable atmosphere - granted by vociferous acid lines, trippy pads, and a plethora of throbbing synth layers - could be best described as 'darkness meets groove', exactly the kind of soundtrack that we expect to hear when the machines start to march.

PREMIERE: Marching Machines - Empire [Espacio Cielo]

Human Endeavour is the newest addition to Ransom Note Records’ family of sub-labels. Curated and run by Ransom Note Editor, and one half of DJ duo Kiara Scuro, Rosie Ama Cain, the label will be a “space for artists who are exploring the dark, deep and hypnotic corners of the musical spectrum.”

For the inaugural release, six artists have come together for ‘Trains Of Thought’: a Various Artists EP that gives a window into some of the sounds, styles and names that you’ll be hearing on the label in the future.

Maputo-based beat-maker Nandele is tasked with opening the release. Working predominantly with analog equipment to craft his raw, unfolding compositions, the hypnotic bubbling groove and whirring bleeps of ‘Incomati’ ebb and flow, just like the river it's inspired by that runs through his home of Mozambique.

This is swiftly followed by Albino Sound’s contribution. ‘VAV’ is a slice of metallic UK techno that showcases the Tokyo-based producer's deftness at sound design. Full of clangs, bleeps and sounds, these textural elements are propped up by staccato drum programming and a bouncy low-end.

Geneva producer Reda Saiarh then boldly steers the EP on a different course. A lover of New Beat - born from digging through his father’s record collection - Reda offers up his own fresh take on the iconic Belgian sound with the most vibrant cut on the EP. ‘Kiki’ is powered by a sassy vocal lead which sits over signature new beat stabs, a raw, resonant bass line and punchy kicks.

The pace picks up as we reach the halfway mark of the release. London duo Double Helix follow up their debut release on Slow Dance with sophomore single ‘Doppelgänger’. Drawing inspiration from 90s acid electronica, the pair pit the iconic sound of the Roland 303 against darker industrial tones, Balearic synths and a relentless, pulsating motorik beat.

The momentum continues on ‘The Moon And The Sun’. Crafted by Anatolian Weapons, the Grecian master of moody electronics and mind behind projects such as Dream Weapons and Fantastikoi Hxoi, the track takes cues from EBM and Industrial, matching ominous chugging bass with an intoxicating synth lead and incessant percussion.

Berlin vocalist and producer ANGST vor GRETA brings things to a close with the psychedelic Cold Wave of ‘Infinity’. Atmospheric pads and an eerie synth line are punctuated by crisp percussion and a steady beat, while ghostly wolf howls and Greta’s sultry, whispered spoken word evoke an overall sense of mystique.

Human Endeavour, a name inspired by a mathematics talk penned by Rosie’s late father, which drew its own inspiration from quotes by Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, works on the belief that as long as there's life there will be creative endeavour, and that no matter what you create, the action of bringing something into the world is an achievement in itself.

This idea is echoed in the music policy. Though it will swirl around sounds like minimal wave, acid, chugging rhythms, UK techno, EBM and post-punk, the output will primarily be driven by mood and feeling rather than genre tags.

To celebrate the launch of the label, on Wednesday 29th June there will be a launch party at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, with Double Helix (live), Rosie Ama and special guests.

The cauldron bubbles, the pounding of drums resounds; hordes of twilight lurkers are whipped into a frenzy as they gather to dance. Beware, fair traveler! Such experiences are not so easily purged from the lucid gaze of consciousness. Once burned into the mind’s eye and imprinted into the ear’s discerning flesh, your dreams will forever be haunted with everlasting glimpses of that which lurks behind the light.

Legend has it that an ancient portal to the realm of long-forgotten mythical creatures shall be opened upon the day that this record is played.

MANA001 by Tadan embarks on a mystical journey of psychedelic and healing trance with a modern twist, crafted in reverence to the goddess Hathor and the protector deity Bes. Hathor, a sky deity who represented music, dance, joy, love, sexuality, and maternal care in her benevolence, was a skilled traveller between worlds, known for accompanying souls into the afterlife. Bes, meanwhile, was famed for his prowess in watching after children, killing snakes, and aiding women in labour by fighting off evil spirits.
