Grooveland Records is a UK record label, production team and an artist development agency.
It was set up just recently by two Cardiff-based DJs and producers who through their years of extensive involvement with underground and commercial dance and urban music, have been able to write, produce and release a number of cutting edge tracks.

The independent record company Citadel records was founded in Moscow in 1997. It became the first publisher to inform music community about the existence of united Russian electronic music scene. Born in Toronto, Canada, Mimi Cross is an author, singer, and songwriter who grew up in New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College and an MA from NYU with an emphasis on Vocal Jazz. She is a performer, an Arts educator, and worked briefly in the music industry. Her first two novels are Before Goodbye and Shining Sea.

A two time Asbury Music Award winner, Mimi has shared the bill with such luminaries as Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Lauryn Hill, Jill Sobule, and Loudon Wainwright. She enjoys performing for the benefit of others and has played shows with many other New Jersey musicians including Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. Her music has been used in independent films and the TV show Defiance.

‘The World Goes Quiet’ is the first single and title track from the forthcoming album by Brighton based, 4 piece band Rubylux. The anthemic mix of rock and pop, with its soaring chorus and insistent bass line, is impossibly infectious and the perfect introduction to the band’s second studio album. 

Lead singer and guitarist Rob Humphreys, bassist Clark Coslett-Hughes, keyboard player Adam Harris and drummer Mike Hall are known for their ‘guerrilla street gigs’ across the country. Setting up on the street and playing for as long as possible, these regular free street shows helped Rubylux build a loyal fan following, funding their first steps towards recording their debut album ‘Fake Control’ with producer James Sanger. Although self released on a small scale the album still attracted the attention of media, such as The Guardian.

Rob explains, “We’d borrow a generator and PA system, and we’d set up around Brighton, blast out songs for 30 or 45 minutes, however long we could play before the police or council shut us down. Then we started recording those gigs, to sell them later on. We made enough money to buy our own gear, because the street gigs attract a ridiculous amount of people, far more than we’d play to a small venue in Brighton. It’s something we love and want to continue doing.”

With diverse inspirations (from Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles to Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and The Killers), the band’s own music sweeps the gamut from guitar pop to anthemic rock. Rubylux have already achieved impressive feats, such as the opportunity to play gigs in countries like Vietnam, Australia, USA and Germany as well as small venues across the UK. Alongside this, they have built up a thriving official fan club, leading to recognition at The Brighton Music Awards. Here, they received the best band accolade, garnering praise from the likes of Roger Daltrey and Jimmy Page who presented the award. Despite this, Rubylux are still just getting started.

Arguably ‘Brighton’s best kept secret’, Rubylux who formed five years ago are excited to take on the UK with their first major album release ‘The World Goes Quiet’ and it’s suspected they won’t be Brighton’s secret for much longer.

After a hugely successful support slot with Russian rock-group Mumiy Troll last year, the band will support them once more, this time at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on May 25th and, as previous winners of ‘Band of the Year’, they will be taking to the stage at the Brighton Music Awards in June. Acid Beat was created by Thiago Almeida. His path in music production began in 2008, inspired by artists who impacted him throughout his life. Over the years, he has produced several styles such as Electro House, Bass House, Future Bass, Drum N Bass and others, but it is in Psytrance that Acid Beat finds himself. Despite this, the idea of the project is not to stick in one style, but to merge different elements into Psytrance without losing its essence.
