French producer @trudged has been making a name for himself over the last year with a succession of releases and a unique live show. The «Split EP» with Die Roh (Sagats & DJ Octopus), released last summer by Axe On Wax sublabel, Axe Traxx, established a left-field house sound with elements of lo-fi - blown out kicks, grainy samples and lush pads. His releases this year (one on Dance Around 88, and another on Shall Not Fade sublabel, Lost Palms) show a sonic development, experimenting with heavier sounds (‘Restless’) as well as emotive dream-house (‘Deep Eyes Blue Skies’). This latest 12” sees Trudge explore a darker mood with nods to a diverse range of styles.

«Buried Hopes» is a 4-track EP released by @ofparadiserecords. The fourth installment of the London label, the record is a fitting follow-up to Baltra’s double LP, «No Regrets». Our premiere today, the A1 track, ‘Memorial For A Buried Hope’ is a haunting opener that’s equally infectious as it is ominous. An overdriven kick and distorted chords open the 8-minute piece, and are gradually accompanied by driving hi-hats and fuzzy snare. The atmospheric haziness is grounded by the bass, which sometimes slips towards an acid sound and provides the main melodic motif. High strings build tension half-way through the track, signalling the peak. ‘Memorial For A Buried Hope’ is a slow-burner that invites the listener to lose themselves in its meditative textures, the pounding rhythms maintain a forward momentum that suggests the energy of New York techno. The following track, ‘Sad But Necessary’ moves further into the acid realm and compliments the opener. The B-side offers inventive, juxtaposing takes on jungle. ‘Drop’ features slow breakbeats and hazy pads, while the closer, ‘And I’m Losing My Mind Again,’ is intensely quick, the breakbeats fading in-and-out as choral pads evoke a religious atmosphere, ending the record on an emotional high.

F*CLR Music are proud to present Irish DJ/producer, Glenn Davis and debut EP with the label  'Body & Soul'. It's a deeply soulful affair aimed firmly at the dance floor fusing his love of all things Chicago, Detroit & NYC. The title track ‘Body & Soul’ has its roots firmly in Strictly Rhythm/Nu Groove groove – a lush, organ driven banger that is guaranteed to incite hands in the air mayhem. Ashley Beedle & the North Street crew put a different spin on
‘Body & Soul' giving it a more spaced out, Balearic feel with their version, while ‘I ain’t got nothing’ has got attitude and then some. The held string, melancholy chords and beautifully ethereal vocals take you to that tiny, dimly lit backstreet club in your mind, the one you never want to leave. The gasping interjections on ‘I feel it’ are underpinned by ominous synths.  The vinyl carries these first 4 releases. On the digital release there's an additional track ‘Emotional Intelligence’ taking you in an even darker Detroit direction.

GLENN DAVIS - BODY & SOUL EP -  I FEEL IT

Deepening its connection with its Swedish roots, Truesoul is excited to welcome La Fleur to the collective. 

The Berlin-based, Stockholm-born DJ/producer has emerged as one of the most exciting in house and techno circles in recent years. A resident of Watergate, label boss of the quality Power Plant imprint and new addition to Labyrinth parties in Ibiza, this EP follows La Fleur’s amazing 90-minute set at the Pacha party this season alongside Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg. 

Her strong two-track contribution to the Truesoul catalogue begins with ‘Fish Truck’, a brilliant multi-layered concoction of shuffling beats, heavy bass and a woozy synth line with a subtle nod to Chicago. A rare track that is simultaneously thought-provoking due to its complexity, yet powerful and harmonious in its execution to be a peak-time weapon. ‘Exhaust’ changes up the energy and mood deliciously, as layers of lush pads fill the soundscape and combine with a vocal from an Eckhart Tolle video where a woman asks him why we are so affected by music. With a backbone of funk-laden techno beats, it’s at once beautiful yet melancholic.

Lab Personnel is a very intriguing collaboration between a number of producers hailing from Croatia. Members include Zarkoff (member of Sumerian Fleet), Neon Lies, ikonal many more (total eight members). The tracks were recorded during Synth Lab 4 improvisational sessions in Pisak in 2017. The album is a dense and stormy affair overall with mesmerizing and dark synths. The styles presented drift between genres including acid techno, electro, EBM, and other hybrids. All instrumental, the LP is a brooding journey into diverse techno soundscapes with eight strong tracks that will not disappoint.

This debut for Curle Recordings follows releases for NeedWant and Neptune Records.
'Creature' is some badass rhythm exploration through an old echo box. Dark stuff!
