Deetron - XLR8R Podcast

Canadian trio My Favorite Robot, AKA Jared Simms, James Teej and Voytek Korab, scored big with this year's 'Atomic Age' on No. 19 Music, their second album, which continued to define a direction as indebted to '80s synth pop and Goth-ish guitar bands as it is to house and techno. 

Out on the 16th of December, Jimmy Edgar, Kate Simko, Mr G and False Image all have a crack at remoulding tracks from this in their own image. While you'll have to wait to hear these, this podcast from MFR gives a taste of their eponymous label, with tracks from Nhar and Tim Paris, whose own excellent album also recently dropped on the imprint.

Having just joined Ostgut bookings, Somewhen is part of Berlin’s new techno generation, which continues to elaborate on the genres’ principal topics by adapting their meanings to a post-modern context. Futurism and nostalgia: two traditional techno themes purposely coming together within the very name of the producer, DJ and label owner: Somewhen describes this uncertain time in the vague future (whenever) as well as the confidence that eventually (sometime) one’s own dreams can be achieved.

End of 2014, after the release of CURLE-P06, some techno blog suggested I would record a Petite themed mix. That roughly means; tracks of a certain age, quite wanted on Discogs, that I like so much that I'd want to reissue them on Petite, our subdivision for licenses. It took me a few months before I actually got to work, and by that time the guy went on to work for one of those big techno sites we all read, and his personal blog came to an end.. 
Now that we just had the Microworld reissue and CURLE-P07 is around the corner, it seemed like a good timing to upload the mix here anyway - although two of the tracks recently got repressed/bootlegged :-) 
There's music from Theo Parrish, 3 Chairs, Pépé Bradock, Second-Hand Satellites, Cobblestone Jazz, Herbert, Roman Flügel, Ricardo Villalobos, Parallel 9, Octave One, Moodymann, Donato Dozzy and Choice. Hope you enjoy!

This mix by Berghain / Panorama Bar resident @Efdemin aka Phillip Sollmann first aired on August 3 as part of @OstgutTon-official's takeover of @RinseFM and @Rinse-France. For this special simulcast on both stations in Paris and London, Ostgut Ton artists were asked to showcase a different musical side of theirs.

Phillip Sollmann: “For this mix I've picked out a handful of records that have been important to me recently or since a very long time. It's about various times and places, now rhythmic, then rather quiet. I hope that my musical output as Efdemin better translates through this compilation of influential music, rather than for instance through interviews. Happy listening.”

Versalife - Live In Los Angeles at RR(27/12/19)

Nuno and I covered a lot of ground in those unforgettable morning hours, playing for about 2,5 hours to the most amazing crowd. A lot of love, happiness and hedonistic behaviour going on and as the hours progressed it just got better and better. Sleeping before going out at around 9 in the morning is definitely the way forward. Daytime parties agree with my biological clock...no hangover whatsoever :-)
