Matchbook Suite for Woodwind Trio 2023

This is an original that I was commissioned to write for the Air Force Reserve Band, Robins AFB, GA, around 2006. The title refers to the fact that this was the first Air Force band I was stationed in, 1977, and it is where I started my writing career. I retired in 1994 and around 2006 I was commissioned by my friend, Ken Trimmins who was the director, and here it is.So, it seems like a full circle for me.

My arrangement performed by the Air Force Band of the Golden West, the Commanders, that I directed from 1991-1994. This was recorded in 1993 at Fantasy Studios in Berkley, CA.

I composed this tune back in 1979 and dedicated it to Ralph Towner. This version is from the album Awakenings by Chris Cortez. Me on Oboe, Chris on guitar, Andrew Leinhard on Piano, Glen Ackerman on bass and Joel Fulghum on drums.
